Insane lag spikes despite overall high fps

Hi guys i came back after a year playing the modpack i created. Apart from some patches and missing textures i have to fix it works all fine but those damn lag spikes in crowded places like cities (In Boston it's insane) and even highways pisses me off.

I have a new hi-end PC and fps are not a problem, I play with Beth.ini High preset.

Sorry, but looking at your load order I can't help but think of Todd Howard's immortal words:

"It just works"....

You load list is way beyond anything I'd consider.

That said, what you describe sounds too much like a Pre-Combine issue.

Texture mods, and large hdds, don't really get along well together. Going to some variety of solid state drive would likely reduce your problem.

What are your CPU /GPU temps like? If you are thermal throttling, that would cause the issues you are experiencing. It may also be broken precombines or previs. I saw one mod that has something to do with scrapping.

 

There is a new mod out there that may be better than Boston fix and Redrocket fix, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46403/?tab=posts Previs Repair Pack. From what I have read, this mod has redone all vanilla items in the game. I would look into that mod as it may help.

As HeyYou says, a SSD would most likely have a noticeable impact. Preferably a NVMe SSD (expensive) vs a SATA.

 

I've also had some improvements regarding stuttering with the the mods Buffout 4 and Sprint Stuttering Fix, by no means earthshattering changes, but a little bit better, I guess ymmv.

Update: i did a fresh reinstall of game and mods, now i have lag spikes, only outdoors in boston, way less impactful then before but are still there.. i guess i'll have to upgrade to a Nvme.
