  1. In my most recent game I have been seeing some weird graphics glitches where buildings, trees, etc. look like the attached photo. As soon as I get closer to the building or tree, etc., the image is normal again. I'm thinking it is an ini setting I messed with but I cannot remember what I changed. I have not installed any new mods other than a companion mod. Any idea would be appreciated. Attached is an example. https://i.imgur.com/bfkPhww.png
  2. Check out ECO (Equipment Crafting Overhaul).
  3. While I do not use the mod, I have heard that Functional Displays can be problematic, not sure why. I would highly recommend HZS Easy Home Builder. Perfect mod for beds and it has so much more. Just an amazing mod. It is no longer available on Nexus but it is available on discord. Do as HeyYou suggested and have Vortex sort the load order. Use Loot initially to find out of the mods are clean. Vortex uses Loot for load order but I use it as a stand-alone initially to see of I am missing something or if the records in the mod have duplicates, ITMs etc., then you clean the problematic mods with F04Edit. You will find that the main game files also need to be cleaned.
  4. The Ghoul domestic support payment was late. Seriously I have seen this happen many times and have not heard that this is a bug.
  5. You should check your speed multiplier in console (if using a PC). This happened to me recently out of the blue (mone was set to 3.00). I used player.setspeedmultiplier to -50 and that had me moving normally (1). I used "set" instead of force in case it was a temporary glitch. The next time I loaded the game after entering this command and the speed multiplier was back to normal.
  6. The mod was created by Reginald, Dynamic Cinematic Lights. It is available on his Discord channel under "The Ivy League" pinned under downloads tab, #Dynamic-Cinematic-Lights. I am not very Discord savvy otherwise I would give you the address.
  7. Sounds Bethesda-ey to me. Shadows seem to be problematic unless you set them to Ultra and then your FPS tanks. Can't win. Can't imagine playing this game on a 34" monitor as I play on a 15" laptop. Congrats!
  8. The immediately preceding poster is correct. You cannot un-ring the bell. The save is corrupted and even if Resaver cleans up the save, more than likely the game will eventually bork. If you have a save right before deleting the mod, reinstall the mod you deleted and resume your game from that point. Depending on the mod, you may still be able to complete the game unless the deleted mod is simply not working with your load order. Good luck.
  9. Very nice article. I would, however, add that I would not use Fallout 4 config tool as it is unsupported. Bethinin is better. Better yet, unless you know what it is you are changing in your ini files, don't change it. There are plenty of on-line sources out there that explain what specific ini settings do and can't do. Check those out before making any changes. Finally, just because someone uses a certain ini tweak does not mean it will work for you. I have used recommended ini tweaks from many experienced modders, including Xrayy (whose work I admire) and a recently recommended tweak made my game worse, not better (it was a shadow tweak). Luckily I use bethini and I was able to easily revert back to my previous ini (always back those up before making changes). Modding expands the game to horizons never envisioned by the original creators, but it comes with a cost.
  10. It has to be either mod related or a borked download of the main game. You'll just have to play with half of the mods installed and see if the problem continues. If in that 1/2 mod load the problem stops, then the problem is with a mod in the other half of the mods. Eventually, you may be able to find the culprit. Also, load order may be the cause, the fixing of which can be hit and miss. Use FO4edit and load all mods and then right click on any mod on the resulting list on the left side and then sort by conflicts. It will bring up conflicts and you just have to go through all of the red ones (not all of those are actual conflicts if you meant for one mod to supersede another ones changes. there are plenty of videos on how to look for conflicts, though, not as many as I would like showing how to fix those conflicts. Goof luck.
  11. This is off topic but I thought I would add my experience with a lap top, namely, the game does not like a hot processor or video card and it will stutter, sometimes badly. The worse culprits are those really thin laptops (what I have). In the winter months, not an issue, but come summer (it gets very warm here) I have three fans aimed at my laptop just to reduce stuttering. I have done everything undervolting seems to work the best). It does not help when many manufacturers of laptops limit access to advanced features. If you are moving to a new PC may I suggest having the game in your root directory (c:\) so Windows and other virus programs don't mess with the game. An exact copy to the new hard drive should do the trick, though I would still "reinstall" the mods with the mod manager which should not take that long since you will have them all already in the staging folder or backup folder, whatever it's called. Good luck and happy gaming.
  12. Prude is an apropos title. Even the natural act of breast-feeding can be frowned upon by some state laws! The first time I traveled to Europe (Greece) and did the island hoping thing my prudish upbringing stifled my enjoyment of all the European ladies out there. By the end of the trip, I was in a balcony showering in front of all my female roommates (it was the only shower in the room and for $5 a night, what do you expect) without giving it a thought. It is a shame that decapitating someone in a video game is deemed acceptable and yet nudity is not. It has gotten so bad that pictures of your baby's first bath can be tagged as child pornography by a photo processing company and reported. The world seems to be moving backward and not forward, though, I hope this is simply a cyclical historical pattern that will move more towards acceptance than rejection and regulatory prudishness.
  13. Y You need to enable the categories in the holotape that DIY places in your inventory. By default they are set to off.
  14. I think you need to electrify the item first next to the power source, then move the object to the desired location. This should work all the time.
  15. I am assuming that you mean some things are not showing up in your build menu. If that is what you meant, try using Settlement Menu Manager https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24204/ This mod helps repair menus that nay have become corrupted. You can also look at what mods you added that may have impacted your menu and disable them and then enable one at a time and see which one impacts your workshop menu. If you find the culprit, try loading it in a different spot and see if that helps.
  16. I've never had a problem with Jenncave's mods and have used them for a long time now. She has stated that she regenerates the AI pathing,, navemeshes etc. so not sure about your CTDs due to her mods. As for "safely" removing houses in Sanctuary, not sure you can do that without messing up AI pathings/navemesh, precombines and previs data. Remember, this will impact the cell you are working on not other cells, but performance will drop. At one point I had eliminated all the houses and build a new city there. No crashes, but FPS was in the teens sometimes, so it was not worth it. I am not aware of any mod that can safely remove the houses and not cause a drop in performance or other performance issues unless the mod completely removes all houses in the CK, regenerates navmesh and precombines etc. At one point in time I was thinking about sharing my settlements but only after regenerating everything, something that Greekrage is now doing but I am crap with using the CK. There are some mods that assist with navmesh creating on game and have used them in some settlements where apparently certain assets were not navemeshed but that is it.
  17. Thank Thanks man. It appears that when I used Loot outside of Vortex, it helped clear up the issue. I have the most current version of Loot and I assume so does Vortex, so I am not sure why that helped, but it did. Have a good day.
  18. Not s Not sure who you are, but obviously you appear to be jaded. The help you asserted you wanted to provide would not have worked as the apparent circular events were inconsistent. At one point it would be x mods, then at another point completely different mods, that would not have helped you. As I am sure you would like to have the last word, I am looking forward to your response. In the meantime, I will no longer be following this thread. Have a drink with an infused chill pill if you are going to respond to questions posed.
  19. I've never posted on Vortex before, but unlike two people who actually seemed to want to help, all I have seen in response to my original post is criticism of the fact that I have set up specific groups for my mods and I am not using the standard groups provided by the program. This is counter-intuitive to an alleged topic for help with an issue on Vortex. To repeat what I have previously posted: 1. Why would the option exist to create new groups if that would be counter-productive to modding the game 2. Further categorization of groups can help me narrow down any conflicts in load order given the size of plug-ins I am using 3. Other than some minor slowing down of loading the different groups, the only issue was that the software would not save the custom groups. I went back to just using the standard groups and that actually messed up my game. Of course I can envision some psychic on this thread stating that I did not order the mods accurately and that has nothing to do with the standard groups, but I know how to determine conflicts. The standard groups are simply too generic and include groups that I do not use and/or are too vague, in my opinion. This is not a criticism of the software per se as overall I am pleased with Vortex and frankly do not want to learn how to use MO2 and I understand that creating software and groups to address a plethora of plug-ins is a daunting, if not impossible task (thus necessitating the need for custom groups), the only time I have an issue with Vortex is when it loads with the error message asking me to load a previous save, ignore or delete a save due to some issue. That happens rarely, and that happened to me when I posted my original question. Well, for some reason now, Vortex is remembering the groups and not only that, it is showing no conflicts in sorting, and my game is still running crash free even with over 320 mods compared to when I was using the standard groups. Criticism of ones request for help is counter-intuitive of the whole point of this forum. While I do not mind opposing views as those can present solutions to a problem, simply telling me that creating custom groups was the problem does not actually help because the software should be able to sort custom groups and be able to remember those groups. As the software is now properly sorting my custom groups and is running well, please mark this subject as resolved without any further need for follow up. I want to thank Tannin42 and Pickysaurus for their help and I wish you all good health and happiness.
  20. Are you talking about meshes and textures of a mod or the base game itself? Have you disabled and previs of precombine data by using scrapping mods? Have you generated an LOD (may need to if you install new textures or repack the texture files with files from other mods to avoid loose files). These are my ini values for archive: [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= SCellResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4.cdx SGeometryPackageList=Fallout4 - Geometry.csg SResourceArchiveList=Fallout4 - Voices.ba2, Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2, Fallout4 - MeshesExtra.ba2, Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2 SResourceArchiveList2=Fallout4 - Animations.ba2 SResourceArchiveMemoryCacheList=Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2 sResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures2.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures3.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures4.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures5.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures6.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures7.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures8.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures9.ba2 sResourceStartUpArchiveList=Fallout4 - Startup.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2 Unless you have all of these files do not copy and paste to your ini. If you do, make sure you make a backup of any ini file you change. Do you use Bethini?
  21. Your post fits within the definition of vague and is way too generic so i doubt you will get many responses. Have you made changes to your ini files to allow you to mod the game?? Because not much info is provided other than your list of mods, I am assuming that the game is not working because it has not been set up to accept/run mods and that it was working without mods. If your game did not work without mods, then that is a whole other problem. If my assumption is not accurate, my apologies. Have you downloaded and properly installed FO4SE? Many mods / the vast majority I believe, of mods require that program. For setting up your game for modding, there are several sources. Grant it. some of them are older, but if you search enough, there are more recent guides, even on the Nexus you will find guides re: ini tweaks, etc. Check out this site which provides some useful info: https://steamcommuni.../?id=2242115007 You should also look into this mod: https://www.nexusmod...allout4/mods/67 (Bethini) This will help with setting up the ini files. Once you get your game going you can add further tweaks if you want to your ini files (the basic ini, the prefs.ini and custom.ini) depending on what you are trying to do. You can also check out this site https://stepmodifica...tem_Setup_Guide And this: http://wiki.tesnexus...od_Installation The site also includes some definitions of tweaks you can make to your ini files. When you are playing a modded game, the game should be launched through FO4SE, just copy a shortcut to your task bar or desktop. I do not run it through Vortex and you do not start it through Steam or the actual fallout4.exe file I would also refer you to https://www.nexusmod...out4/mods/23556 Biraitbec guide. I am not suggesting that you follow the entire guide, but it includes a useful set-up guide to prepare the game for modding. Someone has updated the guide on the Nexus and I think you can get an invite to join the discord group that has the updated guide, and is working on an even more thorough guide (my only reservation with the guide is that they seem to hate Vortex whereas I have not had a problem using it and taking care of load order etc., but I did use the guide for texture optimizations, etc.) If I can do all of this, you should be able to do it as I had very little knowledge of modding when I started modding Skyrim SE and have learned from those mistakes over the years. Heck, when Vortex would ask me should "X mod" be before or after "Y mod", I would just guess, I was really clueless, I am surprised I was actually able to play the game. As I said before, I know this can be very frustrating, but with a little bit of knowledge and guidance, before you know it you will have Curie doing a three-way with a robot and a mutant hound if that is something you want to do (no judgment here) Good luck and if you have looked at/tried all the things I am recommending, I would then ask for some more help and if I see your post, I will do my best to see of I can help. Take care and (eventually) happy gaming because life is just too damn short to sweat some of the small stuff life throws our way.
  22. This guide may be helpful for you: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48593 Also try out the following: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46871 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46711 and the patch to play both Whispering Hills and Grim the curse https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23721 As for difficulty: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15961 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/45085 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42414 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42081 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24980 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29119 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/53550 (add more creatures) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/218?tab=description https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/53494 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13822 There are more, but a good start.
  23. Have you made sure that the config for this mod is properly setup to use the up and down keys? You may need to rebind the Home and Up and Down keys by editing the file AAF_settings.xml inside the subfolder \AAF. Is anything else using these keys? Any load order conflicts? AAF is finicky, but changing load order can help if it is otherwise properly set-up. EDIT: I would check out Lover's Lab for some help. Or you can post something on the AAF Wiki.
  24. I have seen improvement with Buffout 4 and High FPS Physics fix, but to properly answer your question, it depends on your play style. If you have played FO4 and have done all the quests multiple times, perhaps new quest mods would be more to your liking. If you like to build settlements, then there are so many of those mods I could not play without that I can't list them all. Stability is key to this game and enjoyment thereof. Get your game stable, maybe upgrade the textures (Fallout 3 HD Overhaul comes to mind) and slowly add mods that interest you, whether the are QOL mods or quests. With respect to companions, Heather Casdin, I'm Darlene and Meet Companion Ivy and mods I cannot play without.
