nightserpent
I am somewhat familiar with installing script extender (done it multiple times with Mod Organizer 2), but this time I used VORTEX to install and make the tool - how do I update that tool? Updating the mods was easy .. but there doesn't appear to be anything anywhere to update the tools. Thank you.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted September 27, 2021 Community Manager Share Posted September 27, 2021 The dashboard tool should always be pointing to the correct location. You just need to update the files. It's worth noting that unlike MO2, Vortex can install the script extender for you as a mod.
nightserpent
I looked in the extensions folder and all I could find is the "script extender installer" and the "script extender updater" and 2 test folders .. and each is empty when clicked on. No where to update or delete, or reinstall .. a little confusing to say the least. I guess I could just redownload and replace in the actual Skyrim SE folder itself, but you would think if Vortex has an option to install it for you then it would also have the option to update it ..unless I am missing something .. EDIT: just FYI, this all came about when I received a error saying Script extender encountered an error with mod and needed to be updated, yet no option is provided. To update SKSE64, simply uninstall the old script extender and then install the new script extender, as Pickysaurus already said. That's all there is to it. Except all that is listed for me is "Remove" and that didn't do anything but remove the tool .. and in Extensions, as i mentioned are "Script Extender Installer" and "Script Extender updater" - both are blank when double-clicked on (nada listed in mods). Either way .. i just did the old way and copy/pasted into folder. Done. Thanks anyways ..
AugustaCalidia
Well, I'm glad that you solved your problem. But why were you trying to update from the dashboard tool in the first place? If you're not manually installing, then the mods page is the proper place for installing (and uninstalling) script extenders, as is the case with any mod. The dashboard tool is for setting the script extender paths. It has nothing to do with the script extender installation process.
