Watchmen

I just went to see Watchmen. Though it was a fairly weird movie, it didn't have the hard to follow plot that all the critics had general disdain for. Overall, I thought it was fairly good. Several hours before I went to see the movie with my friends, I noticed that there was nudity in it. I said to my friend "There had better not be any male nudity in this." Sure enough, it was throughout the entire movie almost constantly. Are you guys planning to see it? If you already have, what did you think of it?

Wow, so your homophobia extends to not even being able to see a naked man? Do you cover your mirrors at home?

You have issues.

No, he has no issues at all.

I'd consider it to be normal male tendency as to not want to see naked men they don't even know. Why are there dividers in stalls in public bathrooms? Why are we walking around in clothes? Due to the fact they'd rather not see it. I know I don't want to have to see it, but I know I don't have homophobia at all due to the fact I have a good about of friends that are homosexual. If you don't mind, don't make personal attacks on someone like that just from a simple statement.

Saying someone that would rather not see a violent movie is like saying they're a pacifist.

Besides, did he specify who he went to the movie with? I'd figure if you went to the movie with a bunch of your male friends, then you'd be observed as a little strange for going with an all guy group to a movie with profound amounts of male nudity.

Did not see the film yet, but I know the graphic novel since it's release. I don't think should be hard to follow the plot, mainly because the refusing from Alan Moore to give his aval to film the series is justly because the plot would be watered in a 2 or so movie hours. And to the extent the reviews goes, the action/battle scenes were emphasized to my 'no surprise".

Michlo, please stop looking for homophobia attack possibilities. There was no reason for your post (and don't try to fight me on this).

PureSnipe did a good enough explanation to what I was going to say.

So please do not go looking to pick fights.

My knowledge of his homophobia was not based on this post at all but his prior post in the Propsition 8 thread. Short memories here or what? There was no need for him to come here and go on about male nudity, I'm sure he wouldn't have complained about female nudity.

Michlo:

I don't have time to read his post in the Proposition 8 thread, due to the fact that I'm about to go eat. I'll still take a shot in the dark at what it said, as a shot in the dark is better than no shot at all.

-If the post was something along the lines of "same-sex marriage should be outlawed because it's gross/wrong", then I can make an assumption as to where he's coming from.

-The Christian religion, and most others, for that matter, look at homosexuality as a sin. I'll profess my standing here as a Christian Constitutionalist. I too believe that homosexuality isn't the right thing, but I do NOT judge one because of what they've chosen. Also, the Constitution that I believe we should firmly abide by in terms of government states that there is to be a seperation of church and state, meaning that our laws are not to be created on the grounds of religious beliefs.

-Someone with those beliefs is in no way, shape or form a homophobe. They just have their thoughts rooted in a firm religious background, and should not be falsely judged for such.

Also, the statement of him not needing to state something about nudity? Going on and on about something is more of typing a paragraph on it, not the simple statement he made. Those two sentences made all the difference in my decision to see it. LHammonds can understand more accurately than most anyone else on my next statement.

-I live in rural Texas, where most people consider homosexuality to be an abomination on mankind. Walking into a movie where naked men are displayed as a form of entertainment is much, much different from naked men in the locker room, which is out of necessity.

-Chances are I won't post in this thread again unless you continue to make statements with trying to brand the OP as being homophobic, as to not veer too far off topic.

And something to think about as I part:

It is my beliefs there are two main problems with the USA today. The fact that we have veered away from abiding by the Constitution, and the fact we are telling people to suppress their religious beliefs as to not offend anyone. Go ahead and call me a right-wing extremist on this next statement, for I've heard it before: The first step into creating the USSR was to remove all religious diversity.

Start a political debate with me, don't be surprised to be hit over the head with enough information as to put you to sleep. When one has decided he is to risk his life for the service of his country, then he should gain as much knowledge of what the country he could potentially give his life for is doing, as I am in the process of doing.

I hate to have to have an argument such as that in a thread not designed for it, but I don't like to sit by idly while someone is attacked on grounds that can't be proven.

Back on topic:

I've got some friends that went to it and loved it, and a few that didn't like it at all. It's one of those personal taste movies.
