BrotherShamus
So... I had a sweet LO going... AE update came and due to some decisions I made (blind, panicky idiot stuff), I basically killed my game. It had taken me a month to put it all together and I just wasn't up to trying it again so I left it alone for a couple of weeks and yesterday, I decided to do a clean install... downgraded to whatever the last version was before AE, installed SKSE 2.0.20 and everything seemed fine but today, whenever I turn on my PC and start it up, it starts through Steam (no SKSE) and then I have to close out the game and restart and it works. Is this normal or have I done something horribly wrong?
AleCuneo
Can't you put Steam into offline mode before starting Skyrim?
BrotherShamus
I could... but I was hoping I could avoid doing that. I've never had this issue before and am not sure why it's happening now. Very bizarre... At any rate, thanks for the suggestion.
showler
If Steam isn't running when you start SSE through SKSE then it will start itself before the game runs.

I've been modding and playing on my PC for nearly a year now and it always just loaded from the SKSE launcher. Could it be that because I've turned off the auto updates in Steam, it's causing this? I'm just trying to troubleshoot early here as I know it's going to take me at least a week or two to rebuild my game and I want to make sure I've got all my ducks in a row. showler
Just out of curiosity, is Steam still set to start when your computer starts?

showler
Are you starting Steam prior to launching SKSE? SKSE only bypasses the Steam Launcher, not the Steam requirement. If Steam isn't running when you launch SKSE then it will automatically start and run the basic game launcher. This is a common cause of people having their game update when they don't want it to. You need to have Steam running, in offline or online mode as you prefer, and then launch SKSE in order to get it to work the way you are used to.
