Volksenchimer
Hi, I'm looking for someone to help me convert an Oblivion race to FNV, I've been trying with the GECK but I can't get anything to work. Anyone out there?
madmongo
Good luck. Oblivion races aren't going to translate over directly to FNV. Oblivion breaks the body into 3 main parts, the head, the upper body, and the lower body (plus the hands). FNV has an "upper body" but they use it for the entire body and they don't use a lower body at all. For the heads, the facegen is completely different. You can't use the Oblivion facegen in FNV. Since all of the structures and skeletons are completely different, things aren't going to port easily from one game to the other. The "human" bodies can just use the normal human races in FNV. Nords, Imperials, and Bretons would be Caucasian, just use blonde hair for Nords, brown hair for Bretons, and dark hair for Imperials. You can scale the races so that Nords are taller than average and Bretons shorter than average. Redguards would be African-American. For the elf races, the easiest thing to do would be to remodel the ears to make more elf-like ears. And again, scale the Altmer to be taller and the Dunmer and Bosmer to be shorter.Someone already made a Dunmer race for you so there's a good place to start. Personally I think the ears are too small but if you aren't a 3d modeler this at least gives you some ears to use.https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42017/ You could make orcs by retexturing the Dunmer race, though you would have human teeth and not orc tusks, but that's probably close enough. You can make beast races, but the tails are going to be a bit problematic. FNV doesn't have tail bones in its armatures or animations. You can make tails for Khajiits and Argonians but they'll probably be weighted to the pelvic bone and won't move realistically. You might be able to weight them slightly to the leg bones to get some movement out of them as the characters walk but that might be tricky to pull off. M48A5
There is a skeleton available for New Vegas that includes a tail and wings. It could be a start: The Skeleton at Fallout New Vegas

M48A5
Skyrim races in Fallout? Don't you think someone would have done it already? It would require extensive modification to run a 64 bit mod on a 32 bit system. Edited December 20, 2021 by M48A5
madmongo
The Skyrim facegen and armatures are also significantly different than FNV so no, those won't work. It's not a 32 bit vs 64 bit thing, it's that the data structures between the two games are completely different.

Volksenchimer
no, but thanks for helping. I was looking more for some method to bring races like khajiit, argonians, modded races, etc to FNV The Skyrim facegen and armatures are also significantly different than FNV so no, those won't work. Radioactivelad
Weren't the "races" in Oblivion mostly just Bethesda abusing the hell out of FaceGen? (Likewise, the only difference between the races in NV are just the default face data for that race. Which is also why the default faces for the races in NV look different than they do in Fallout 3). It's not exactly clean, but I was able to make a Pigman by just manipulating the base game Old Aged race: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/130/1385564-1581639033.png Something that was taken out of the engine for whatever reason was height and weight though, so there's no way to have stringbeans like high elves or broadchested Orcs.
