hucker75
Why is it when I click on some objects while in the console, I either get an error message, nothing at all, or it's as though I clicked on something miles behind it?
LarannKiar
Why is it when I click on some objects while in the console, I either get an error message, nothing at all You can only select Object References in the console. Not everything is selectable (i.e. ground pieces, sky, inventory items: worn armors, weapons). or it's as though I clicked on something miles behind it? There are selectable "invisible" Object References (i.e. light sources). Among other reasons, this is why it's important to check what you selected. HeyYou
Yeah, I have this problem as well. Some vines I simply cannot scrap, or even select in the console. Even though all the other vines, RIGHT NEXT TO IT, I am able to dispose of...... Same with corpses. It seems the game doesn't wanna clean up the dead around starlight drive-in for me, so every now and again, I will go thru and scrap them, if I can, disable them if I cannot. But, some of them, I simply cannot select, and I have no idea why. (can't select to either scrap, or in the console....)

xrayy
i suppose you all know about fo4 built in performance optimization via previs/precombines? this is the reason why many static objects are not scrapable by default. you can circumvent this by changing ini settings (as some scrap mods recommend). but performancewise this is a bad idea. destoying precombines means a huge incease of drawcalls while rendering and this is the bottleneck responsible for loss of fps in complex scenes even with good hardware. the more scrapped precombines(=destroyed optimized objects) the lower the game rendering performance. i wrote a guide for that issue. you may read it or not. hucker75
I use scrap everything mod, which seems to break up most precombines. I like to completely clear a settlement then build on plain land. Sometimes it even lets me scrap in the middle of the commonwealth. I didn't notice any drop in fps, but I have a decent system. How much would it hurt to use the ini file setting? And please tell me what it is so I can experiment.

hucker75
I assume you mean I should try changing these to 0? "check Fallout ini files for bUseCombinedObjects=1 and bUsePreCreatedSCOL=1 (activated)" But I see problem using this here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6300561-busecombinedobjects0-conflicts/ Edited December 22, 2021 by hucker75
Blinxys
@xrayy That is a very useful post indeed! Thanks for the resource, may take a few hours/days to digest and/or test/implement, some items seem a little dated, but all awesomeness to you!
HeyYou
Scrap Everything doesn't do the ini edit any more. (at least, not the version I am using, it might be an option in the installer though....) It DOES remove previs/precombines in settlement areas though. In places like Hangmans Alley, that may be a problem, but, I don't know, as I never do anything there anyway. But even so, I am thinkin' that dead raiders are not a part of previs/precombines in any event.... They were random patrols (added by PANPC I suspect). So, why I can't scrap/select them in the console, is still a mystery to me. :D
