dizietemblesssma Posted May 15, 2022 Share Posted May 15, 2022 An image:https://i.imgur.com/WsKqnib.png I cannot understand why the bashed patch here has the Full - Name record of the esp that is not last in load order, I thought that was how bashed patches work, if there are two conflicting records for an item then the patch combines all the ones that win? I would have hoped that the records for the book would have had the name "[Cheap Book] Report: Disaster at Ionith" from Better Descriptions SSE - Misc Books.esp but the Alternate texture records from Better Descriptions SSE - Legacy of the Dragonborn Patch.esp.Otherwise I'm not sure I see the point of the bashed patch? diziet Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
showler Posted May 15, 2022 Share Posted May 15, 2022 Bashed Patches have a tag system for the various mod files. If one file is tagged to import names and the other is not, the one with the tag will win regardless of load order. This is specifically so that you can mix elements of a single record as needed to get the result you want. Otherwise, a mod that only changes names and a mod that changes stats would always conflict with the last one overwriting the first one. Basically, the tags tell the Bashed Patch what part of the record is the important part for that mod. Without the tags, the Bashed Patch has no way of knowing what is important and what is not. showler Posted May 16, 2022 Share Posted May 16, 2022 I think they appear on the right side of Wrye Bash when you are looking at a file, and that box is expandable? Also, I recall there being programs available that will automatically suggest/add tags based on the mod contents. LOOT suggests tags as well. IsharaMeradin Posted May 16, 2022 Share Posted May 16, 2022 Bash tags are ultimately added to the description field of a plugin's header section. Thus you could use xEdit or the Creation Kit to manually add in the desired tags. However, it is much easier to use Wrye Bash. Select the desired plugin on the left. Then on the right, right-click in the bash tags field. In the pop up select the desired tag, repeat for each additional tag. Removing tags is done in the same way.
