harvengure
I've begun my adventures in Skyrim modding; poking around in the CK, looking at the various tutorials and resources available, getting the rust off of my 3D modeling skills, etc. I look forward to modding and have several things in mind already; several of them house mods.It is with this in mind that I thought I'd put it out to the public and ask them what they think makes a good house mod. I of course do not expect to come up with some magic recipe this way but I'm curious to see what the answers will be and hope someone will say something I never even thought of. So again... What do you think makes a good house mod? Go!
Kraeten
As a rather seasoned abode maker myself, I'd say consistency and restraint are what makes a good player home. I look forward to seeing what mods you create. Cheers.
OdahKing
Humble houses are best in my opinion...I hate flashy, overtly big, and just plain non lore friendly houses.

Deleted31005User
Nothing, there are too many.Srsly? I'd say something that is functional and that works, you have these utterly magnificent looking house mods, but unfortunately they include so many items and effects that most people get infinite loading screens, or they even come with scripts all over that place that give out errors and incompatibility with other mods. dwiss
Variable housing where the player actually gets at least some way of deciding what goes where - static houses filled with other peoples ideas have never gotten my attention for long so far
Matth85
- It needs to make sense. That's pretty much it for me. If something is out of place, my eyes might not see it -- but my brain does. It ruins it rather quickly.- Less is more. A fully cluttered house might be nice, it is often unnecessary. I clutter some myself when I venture into the world to collect and try and put them onto shelves myself. - Some nice functions. A hidden room perhaps? A secret passageway out of the house? A secret room where a script will auto-sort all my named unique onto display if I so choose? - Simple. Not having to patch the mod because it got a hundred script that ruins every other mod out there.- Planned. So that whatever NPC is there will not get stuck randomly, or that the house layout makes no sense.- The ouside must match the inside. Yeah, no huge interior, but a little shack exterior. It kind of needs to make sense. - Enough containers to have stuff in, and keep them sorted. If I want to sort my stuff into groups, I need more than 1 safe (!) container. I am not putting my 2 handed collection into the wardrobe! That's all I can think off! Matth
EnaiSiaion
I see lots of Saints Row housing that is blatantly bigger and more elaborate than even a jarl's palace, smack in the middle of the wilderness.
Percevan
to add to what others have already said: a bit of custom model(s) always increase my interest in these.
FiftyTifty
Don't make a house into a workshop-come-armoury-come-fortress-type-thing. Keep it simple; a couple of beds, tables, shelves and other such furniture. No furnaces, enchanters, etc.
