Peregrine
[Peregrine, where can I get FS2?] Search for it online. It's available for download somewhere, I just don't know where. And no, that's not illegal. The publisher decided to release the source code and game for free download.
Abramul
I have the source sitting on my computer, but I thought that the datafiles still had to be purchased. Made by Volition and Interplay. Freespace2.com

Cyborg16
Hey, there's one game I'm very surprised I've not seen here: Total Annihilation. Surely that's got to come somewhere good on peoples lists? For me, I think it would be:1. Morrowind2. TA (old, but some great battles)3. ... ... maybe haven't played enough games to find any more to put on my list.Half life 2 and NWN are of course good, but NWN doesn't rival Morrowind and hl2's just too linear and too long loading times (after completing it in 3 days, what else is there to do other than do it all over again?) Reply to Dark0ne: I never said the AI was good in TA, or the missions...
Dark0ne
I recently replayed Total Annihiliation and much to my dismay, it was 10 times worse than I remember it. The campaign AI is AWFUL even on the hardest difficulty - its just far too easy and every campaign map is exactly the same. Once you get past the 20 minute mark you've won. Switch
I've played X2, in answer to Dark0ne's earlier question :P I thought it was pretty good, but as you said, the voice acting was enough to make you cringe at times. Everything did look a bit plasticky, but I still thought it looked good. I must admit I played on minimum graphics most of the time though, at least it ran smoothly then. And no, I'm not saying the NPCs looked good, yuck. And that old flat hands thing was just lazy. Plus the guy you got to play looked like a total pillock. :P Also, yes, it got boring after a while. It mostly seemed to be travelling back and forth between factories repetitively and trying to beat other ships to trade goods. Heaven forbid if you didn't get one of those time accelerators. Go and get a cup of tea, it'll be 20 minutes before you reach that station. Pirate ships were always too tough, at least at the start, so fighting for cash was out of the question. The battle system, IMO, left a lot to be desired. I still can't to this day work out quite how you do it. Though admittedly I only played for a week or two. I think it still should have been quicker to pick up than that. All in all, it's a cool game, but it's so realism based and complicated, and just... slow moving, that in the end, it gets very boring. Unfortunately, when comparing the two, Freelancer pwns X2 IMO. ;) I can still play that game through now and then and have a good time.

dunmer_jediknight
oh lord just five games?!?!?!? Ok I'll give it a go at it 1: morrowind : because you can do anything in the game or to the game 2: grand theft auto ( all three on ps2) : run around and cause chaos :) 3: silent hill 1: the first one still scares me! the other two are good two but imho the first one is still the best 4: grand turismo 3 : need I say more? :) 5: Freelancer : yea it is not as nonlineure as the company promised but it does have a large mod communiy ( not as large as morrowind) and there is a no-story mod if all you want to do is destroy ships and trade ( like me lol ). And the storyline is alot better then a ton of video games out there. Honorable mentions (or those that I love but was limited to a top 5 list): star wars galaxies: hey its starwars! and you live in it!! lol dawn of war: I'm a big fan of warhammer 40,000 ( it's a tabletop miniture wargame) final fantasy8: good graphics, for its time, good storyline, some parts made me cry lol. knights of the old republic: hey its starwars lol Riven, seque to myst: for a ps1 game the graphics are jaw droping ( for me ) and I sometimes I just love a puzzle game. primal rage( sega genisis) : when I had it, it was great for stress relief ( with Rob Zombie playing on the cd player lol)
Gabbemaster
Ok, either I am "verry" bad at counting, or it seems that almost everyone here has won the "big cheat medal" (you get that price when you post 37 or more points when you are supposed to post 5)... But, I'm kind now, so you don't have to follow the "5 points restriction" (as you guys didn't do anyway), so I just take that medals from you, *takes your medals* He He, and now you guys are free to post all the games that you think are better than other games, or games that you think are a "must buy".
