Favorite Villian!

Let's see...

Lord Genome from Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. Just a giant, walking mass of GAR, nearly destroyed the Lagann with his BARE HANDS.

Anti-Spiral, also from TTGL. Really blurred the line between whether he was evil or good. Had good intentions and felt the end justified the means, albeit his means were rather....extreme.

Char Aznable, Mobile Suit Gundam. This man needs no intorduction. A good politician in addition to being a great pilot, chucked some nasty things at Earth and is one of the most feared pilots of the OYW.

Gauron from Full Metal Panic. The very definition of Magnificent Bast***. Manipulates anyone and everyone.

And last but not least, Gilgamesh from Fate/Stay Night. Not only is he the legendary Sumerian king Gilgamesh, he's one of the strongest Servants and has 2 absolutely devastating attacks. Also has some of the best quotes I've ever heard.

Dude, Isador, you gotta play Dawn of War II Chaos Rising then. You'd love it.

Some of my favorite villains:

Cuu from WarHammer 40,000: Gaunt's Ghosts. No spoilers here, but you'll hate this SOB so badly by the end of the first book, that you'll actualy want him dead. Dan Abnett strikes again, with a hideously realistic character. Slimey, obviously Tainted, but completely untouchable.

Soviet Premier Churdenko, Red Alert 3. Tim Curry does a hilariously good job as this guy. Funniest villain since robohitler. Crazy, a bit thick, but devious, and a huge throwback and reference to the cartoon villains of the comic book golden age.

The Mighty Poo, Conker's Bad Fur Day. Most disgusting game ever, incredibly crude and deserving of the R rating it got in many countries, but at the same time, side splittingly funny. Naughty Bear tried to ressurect the formula of "kids show full of sex drugs and ultraviolence" but it failed, why? not only was it garbage, but Conker is a one and only. And thank the stars for that mercy.

Megatron, Soundwave, Tranformers G1 and WFC. Iconic villains of my generation. Megatron was cunning but unstuble, intelligent but almost primaly savage. His plans undermined at times simply because of his reckless desire to not only see his foes defeated, but utterly annihilated. Soundwave, atleast as portrayed in WFC, is an iconic Dr Death. A master scientist working with Megatron, SoundWave is portrayed as utterly incapable of empathy or any sort of emotion. His voice is flat and monotone, he embodies the shear brutality that a machine can possess, but at the same time, the unclouded supreme logic.

Kane. CnC. With that iconic beard, that iconic Joe Cucan face and voice, that iconic mix of dogma and shear evil lunacy. Kane surely must be one of the most iconic, not to mention best, villains ever.

The Joker, Batman. For me this is my absolute favorite villain of film. Clever, witty, likeable, yet completely frightening and revolting. And well acted too.

The Master from Doctor Who is charming, deadly, cunning, warped, has obvious weaknesses and is often his own worst enemy. The Master started out as a charming monster so many years ago and ended up dying as a hero. I liked seeing all of his evolving aspects, some more than others.

My favourite villains:

Movies - Dr. Hannibal Lecter, "The Silence of the Lambs", "Red Dragon", "Hannibal".

The man never looses his composure or his temper, he is intelligent, methodical, exacting, and rather pleasant to talk to - provided you are polite. He is the kind of villain that, by the time you see him coming - it's already too late.

Comic Books - Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, "X-Men", "Uncanny X-Men".

Magneto has always struck me as being the most fearsome of villains and not just because of his sheer power (Magneto ranks as one of the Top 5 most powerful mutant in the X-Men Universe), but because of his speaking ability. Magneto is one of the few villains that could not only sell you on the idea of genocide being a good thing, but he could even get you to gladly volunteer your participation.

Television - The Master, "Doctor Who".

Which is more terrifying? A insanely brilliant mind capable of almost anything that is bent on wholesale death and destruction, or an insanely brilliant mind capable of anything that is bent on wholesale death and destruction that see both as good clean fun? After the DW Special "End of Time", so much about the Master became clear that he became a tragic villain. Still one of the most lethal foes you could engage, but tragic nonetheless.

Video Games - Kato Masaji, "Shadow Hearts II" (aka "Shadow Hearts: Covenant")

In SH:C Masaji, a friend of the main character from the original Shadow Hearts who fought beside you as an ally in the first game, is now an enemy. His goal is to ressurect his fallen lover - a pain you can identify with (as your character's lover, Alice, died in the first game). Throughout this, you are hard pressed to see how what he is doing is wrong, even though what he is trying to do threatens the lives of the entire world (this is made worse by the fact that your character is trying to do he same thing, only in a different way). Masaji proves the most dangerous villains are the ones who are sympathetic villains.
