Tagging your mods on upload

I wonder how many of those people complaining about tags actually bother tagging mods themselves, before the site was updated people's profiles used to show how many files they'd tagged, it didn't go unnoticed that those doing the complaining usually had a big fat zero next to the number of files they'd tagged.

Oh, you shouldn't have said that. Incoming "strawman" rant.

Well, when 68% of the mods for SSE are untagged, how many people (and how long) do you think it would take to tag EVERY mod? And that's just one game. Nexus brags that they have 414,910 mods (as of this writing).

And then, the uploader gets to approve any user supplied tags before they become permanent. Now, given that the uploader was either unwilling or unable to supply tags in the first place, is it reasonable to assume that they will approve community supplied tags?

Of course, all of that assumes the uploader didn't block user supplied tags in the first place.

But, is it really the communities responsibility to do the uploaders job for them? Is it really appropriate to make the community responsible for cleaning up after uploaders who are either too lazy or too stupid to do their job correctly in the first place?

ad-hominem and strawman arguments abound. colour me shocked by your staggering hypocrisy found in your words.

btw where did you get 68% from? can you do that site-wide?

Scythe, we know you don't like the current tag system and as I've said many times we know it isn't perfect. It's not something that can be flipped and changed overnight. It requires a lot of research and planning to fundamentally change how the search/filters work. If you have a constructive suggestion about how to improve it then please make suggestion here: https://feedback.nexusmods.com

Ranting on every thread that mentions the tags/search/filters doesn't really help anyone at this point. We KNOW it could be better, your message is received in that regard. We're also open to constructive suggestions on how you feel we can achieve that, but most of your posts just repeat the perceived problems over and over.

The other thing to keep in mind is, how many other websites like ours offer the level or granularity we already have? It's easier in some cases to simply ignore the content you're not interested in rather than trying to block it out entirely.
