@Sulo

Yes, I do contact my ISP. ISP's who charge $50+ a month and cannot keep service up should compensate their users.

When your entire life revolves around the internet (sad as it may be) and you are working from home + gaming competitively from home, you need a stable connection. If you are paying for a connection to the internet and they cannot provide it in a stable manner that stays up, then yes, I want compensation. The compensation they give is a dollar value calculated by number of service days down/disrupted and how many are in your billing cycle. They will then take that cost and subtract from the next bill.

I vote they do that. :) Edited by MasqueradelChris

Yes ...

Imagine this scenario:

You go to a restaurant, sit at a table, a waiter comes and takes your order.

You wait and wait and wait and wait ... after 1 hour the waiter comes with your order and puts it on your table, but ... it isn't what you asked for ...

You call the waiter and tell him/her that isn't what you ordered.

The waiter puts on a poker face and tells you that it is what is available at the moment, if you don't like it, then pay up and leave.

This is what happens with many companies around the world - I've suffered this kind of thing couple years ago in a restaurant in a closeby city ... surprisingly that restaurant is still open - mainly due to monopoly situations and corrupt governments.

That isn't the case here.

Dark0ne and his team are working hard to implement and fix this new system, some downtime is to be expected.

They aren't doing it for themselves, they are doing it for the community.

Reco22, what kind of compensation do you mean? Your money back? I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

Because when this thing is all fixed and running, you will have your compensation: a faster more reliable database for all mod community.

Reco22, imagine this scenario:

You have a car, you want it tuned up, you send it to a garage for tuning.

They tell you it would take a week to do so.

A week goes by, the car is still not ready, you call them, they apologise and ask for a few more days because they need some specific parts not available at the moment.

You complain some more and they tell you that if you want your car back now, they can make do with some spare parts they have around, but they won't garantee its reliability or safety, or you can wait and get your car all finely tuned with brand new parts and gadgets like you asked them to.

So, what would you like?

Your car delivered on schedule, with a hasty assembly and makeshift parts?

Or delivered later, with a fully checked assembly and brand new parts?

Also, Quinten Wolfe ... I think you were a bit extreme on your comment, although I agree with you.

Dark0ne and team, please take your time and do what you have to do, it looks awesome so far, and I'm looking forward to see this finished.

Sorry for the wall of text and my english, not my main language ...

I agree.. i was a bit extreme. Just something that I have been encountering a lot of lately...

I know Dark0ne and his team are working really hard, and I just wanted to emphasis that the majority of us really appreciates what they are doing...

I know I am not a Premium Member, but I guess it is because of me having to pay for all the entitlement folks out there that doesn't give me the luxury of spending the money I would like to... That's why i came off the way I did. My wife and I work hard, and to have to pay for others and then not being able to spend money on the stuff we enjoy... just erks me...

The compensation to me is having a great site become even better and the appreciation to the folks like Dark0ne and the staff who are making it happen...

A big THANK YOU to all of the Nexus Team!!!.

I wonder if NMM will ever be like Steam, so that you can just press a button and it updates a mod, checks if all files are there, and like that.

Yes Steam is nice in some ways but it is run by a bunch of Nazis sorry to say, and we don't need that here.

I too work in a field that sometimes requires endless rush hours for days, weeks, even months in a row with little sleep, eating while working and dealing 7x7 priorities and emergencies all at once - I sympathize completely with what you're going through right now.

Fortunately, I've had no time to finish up my next mod so I have not been trying to upload anything and I always download my mods manually. Even in Offline mod, NMM works just fine (still on version 0.45.6, sorry...) and today I've been able to log in successfully to the Nexus. At least, I feel part of the community again... ;).

It's just that red line saying "OFFLINE MODE" at the bottom of my NMM window, it's heartbreaking ;) - I wish it was greyed out instead of flashy red, it'd feel less... uh, threatening?..

Cheers to your restless dedication and wonderful spirit, guys!

Where I'm from, if the restaurant doesn't bring you what you asked for it's either free or you are allowed to leave without paying. And usually the waiter has to pay for it if it was their mistake. No getting pushed around by big business here! You are right though. It doesn't really apply to this business model. They are still offer most of these while NMM(free service) is down.
