TeeFwock
I have not experienced any slowing whatsoever on the site over the last few days. On this computer I just installed a fresh install of steam and downloaded every episode of half-life and half-life 2 along with other source mods and a few other steam games whilst browsing the forums and f03nexus. Also, I occasionally have time at work to surf so I surf throughout the day (about 8am to 11pm CMT [1pm to 4am Server Time I believe]). To be fair I work at a university at which most of the students have recently gone so the bandwidth is amazing there at the moment. But at this computer I am on a wireless-g with standard cable while dling gigs of content and not having issues. Hope this is helpful info >.>
BaneSixEcho
The site is still slow as hell. I'm waiting for the "Loading Content" deal for far too long. A few seconds? Fine. Upwards of a minute. Not cool. ... and now the site is down totally. This is ridiculous. Connection Interrupted The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
katashy
I have noticed a slight decline in the amount of IPS errors i'm getting, though i am still getting SOME. Except, unlike abb1, i can wait. Usually i just keep constantly clicking on refresh and hitting F5 untill, presumably, the server gives in and let's me continue. Which isn't ideal but i can live with it. TeeFwock
It doesn't seem that a whole lot of people are complaining about this... perhaps the problems are not completely on the server end?
Arthmoor
It would only be a violation of the EULA if the mods were created by Bethesda, which they were NOT. That is like Adobe being in violation of Microsofts Vista EULA for making software for their OS and charging for it. Actually.... you need to read the EULA for the CS again because it's very clearly stated, though buried in the text, that anything you create with the CS legally belongs to Bethesda. You are also not legally allowed to sell mods, nor are sites permitted to charge for pay-only access to downloads. It may not have been legally tested in court, but do you want to be the one they test it on? :) We are all getting frustrated with the constant slowdowns and error messages and this has to be dealt with. If anybody can think of a better solution , please post it, but remember, bandwidth costs money, so there will be a cost factor :( IPS driver errors may be annoying, but speak for yourself on frustration levels. It's not really bothering me that much. Usually I come back in a few minutes and it's cleared up. Patience is a virtue. I will tell you however that I do not pay for online gaming. I never have and I never will. As far as my online gaming habits are concerned, I go for games like Guild Wars which are a one-time fee only, or free betas. Not everyone is willing to shell out for a subscription to World of Warcraft or Everquest. And here I thought my roommates and I were the only 3 people on the planet who gamed and refuse to be sucked into continually paying someone for the privileged of doing so. I refuse to touch WoW or Evercrack or anything similar to it that charges even a small regular subscription fee. Guild Wars didn't grab me enough to do anything more than play the demo, but maybe if I get bored I'll give it another go since I'd only need to buy the CD. Are the IPS Driver Errors still coming up? I think I saw one over the weekend but it cleared up 5 minutes later. Haven't really had any issues with slowness except here on the forums. LHammonds
Since it has not been said on this thread, Dark0ne has found that the IPS issues are mainly due to hack and denial of service attempts. They even setup a bot to create tons of accounts in a short period of time causing a heavy database load...Dark0ne has thwarted that attack by causing a timeout for anyone submitting a secondary account too soon. There have been several other attempts all centered around trying to make this site unavailable (the whole point of DoS attacks) and the best that they achieve are occasional IPS Errors for the average user which clears up fairly quickly. Kudos to Dark0ne for keeping the site alive and safe from script kiddies and those few with actual skillz! So at the end of the day, when you see a temporary IPS Error, be sure to thumb your nose at the jerks attempting to shut down the site and give thanks to Dark0ne for providing a robust site that can survive a multitude of attacks from the impotent members of society.
