Vortex won't install mods. They download correctly with no issues, but when I click on the "Install" button, nothing happens at all.

No error messages, no attempts. It's almost like it's greyed out, except that I can clearly see the button being pushed.

1. Are you logged into your Nexus Mods account when you try to download? Are you logged into Vortex when you try to download?

 

2. Do you use the 'Mod Manager Download' button on page for a mod you want to download? Try downloading the mod to a folder on your PC and then import it to Vortex to see if that works.

 

3. You may also need to check your Vortex installation to make sure it was set up correctly. Check the Knowledgebase in Vortex. If Vortex can't find where your games or mods are, it won't be able to install anything.

 

4. Have you used Vortex before successfully? If so, then what has changed since then? If this is your first time using Vortex, then see item 3.

This isn't usually Vortex just not installing mods. You may have noticed (very rare for me, but it happens) that Vortex will just stop showing notifications for mods it's installing for a bit, and then in a bit, you will have Vortex asking if you want to replace mods as it already installed the 20 or so mods you may have tried to click install on. This isn't Vortex stopping. I guarantee you it's a delay from Vortex and/or your PC being very busy.

what game, what mod or mods, specifically, and what size are the troublesome mods?

Same for me here. Cant find anything on the internet that relates to this problem. It wont install any mod/extension and doesnt show any error either. Also has trouble finding new extensions/locating a new game (cant find many famous games in "Games" tab). Very frustrating as there doesnt seem to be a fix anywhere.

I am not sure, but I think that this can be caused by Vortex not being installed in a proper location relative to the game(s)? Check the knowledge base, I think that it has to be on the same drive as the game, at least. May be more info on the knowledge base.

 

Correction: The mod staging folder must be on the same drive as the game - I misremembered...

Vortex does not need to be on the same drive as the game. The mod staging folder, however, must be on the same drive as the game.

Picky mentioned that if the games list is missing games then something might be preventing Vortex from communicating with GitHub.

 

Some of the other issues sound like not being logged into Nexus Mods in Vortex.

I am playing with vortex for the second time.  I tried it on my old computer and didn't have any issues.  I am trying it again for the collections and I too am having the won't install issue.  I have Vortex and the staging folder on my game drive, though there is still stuff left in the roaming folder on C.  Downloads work just fine, installing however just fails.

It says windows blocks exe and dll.  Unblock all exe and dll files manually. 

Now the question is: What exe and dll files and where are they.  I installed to my F drive and a lot of vortex installed to C and now it wants me to hunt down exe and dll files that are where exactly.
