supashaka
Is it the same as with GOG games? Also why is it necessary to use the mod loader for this game? Won't they work without it? Edited June 18, 2023 by supashaka
showler
Kind of got to tell us what game you are talking about if anyone is going to answer. Also, what mod loader?
supashaka
Kind of got to tell us what game you are talking about if anyone is going to answer. Also, what mod loader? For epic games in general, but specifically I wanted to play slay the spire mod expansion: Downfall, Into the Breach and slay the spire. I saw someone on reddit say they downloaded mods from here and got them to work on their Epic version. Also not sure how reliable this guide is: https://www.buildsometech.com/how-to-download-steam-workshop-mods/
showler
Well, unfortunately you can't speak in generalities here. Whether mods work on the Epic version of a game depends on how the modding process works for that game and how much Epic has altered the game. Some mods are just manual file editing or replacing and will probably work on the Epic version without issue. Others require a program to inject data into the game executable as it's being loaded into memory and will only work if someone has made an Epic specific version of the mod loader. In some cases using Vortex to install mods might work if you alter the installation paths and in other cases the Epic version of a game might block modding altogether. You really need to get specific about what you want to do and ask in the appropriate forums for that game/mod.

Pickysaurus
If Vortex supports the game, it will generally detect it from all supported game stores. For games not supported by Vortex you'll need to ask on the mod page.

Ah ok that helps, I normally just do it manually so I'll try vortex, thank you :)

dabutcherboyz
Some games Vortex won't be able to mod it just because. Tried modding one and it didn't work.
