ShadowFist25
I'm using Vortex 1.8.5, I am trying to play skyrim special edition that I bought from steamI'm trying to use a series of complicated mods that worked fine when I was playing with modded skyrim previously.Everything worked, I updated Vortex, then it couldn't find SkyrimSE when I tried to start it, afterwards I tried updating the script extender but nothing changed.Note: I'm able to open skyrim se though steam with the mods mostly working Edited July 20, 2023 by ShadowFist25

showler
That's not a message from Vortex, it's a message from SKSE64. As vortexposer says, look for the solution in the dashboard tool.

Solution vortexposer Posted July 21, 2023 Solution Share Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) Go to Tools on Vortex Dashboard tab; select side dot to pop edit option, confirm in target path that it is pointing to your game folders skse64_loader.exe and not Mod's Staging folder. Typically, when skse throws this error it means it was launched outside of the game folder - so it can't find the game's executable.
