MOD NOOB: Fallout 4 on Xbox gamepass PC, trying to get CBBE

I am brand new to the MOD world, I just downloaded fallout 4 on my laptop through my Xbox game pass. I downloaded some mods through the games mod option but cannot find the cbbe mod to get a few skin mods to work. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to download the cbbe and put it into the games files to work with the game. I'm older so all this stuff is new to me and I'm not even sure where to start. I figured the easiest way to get easy to understand instructions would be to ask y'all. thank you for any help you can give me in making this a simple as possible process.

Step 1: Downlaod a mod manager like Vortex

Step 2: Run Vortex and use it to install F4SE (its a external site: silver lock something.. do a search for F4SE )

Step 3: Install Buffout 4 via Vortex ( its here on nexus)

Step 4: Install via Vortex the "unoffical fallout 4 patch" (also on here)

Step 5: install CBBE

Step 5b: (optional if u want sex scenes with men enjoying the ladies of the wasteland install bodytalk , also on here)

Step 6: Download and install Bodyslide via vortex (should be bodyslide64 if u have a newer computer). It should now show up as a tab on the top left of your Vortex dashboard.

Step 7 : Download a CBBE bodyslide with a figure to to your liking

Step 8: Watch the tyoutube vid on how to use bodylide. It will save much frustration trust me.

Step 9: Now that you know how to do it build your CBBE body in bodslide and it will "stick" no matter what clothes female NPCs (or female character if u are so inclined) wear.

Step 10: Now that u have learned the ins and outs of Vortex when doing this, install any other mods to your liking.

this was the part I figured might be an issue, which is why I was trying to do the modding manually. I had a feeling playing through game pass might be an issue. I got the CBBE.exe file to load and the character can be naked now, unfortunately this wasn't my end goal, I was trying to have my character be able to wear the CBBE lingerie options that are one the F4 pc Xbox mods options, but it still doesn't show up.

F4SE isn't needed for CBBE and Vortex works just fine with the Game Pass version. Using Vortex is good advice...you just have to avoid mods with F4SE as a requirement.

 

I'd advise you to either get mods from here or through the in game mod menu, but not both. They don't play well together

thanks for the advice, what is F4SE? Special addition?

i downloaded vortex and a few mods in it, how do i get those mods to activate and work in the game?

If the game set up correctly, it should be just a matter of installing them in the "mods" tab and then hitting the "deploy" button.

 

Be careful of any warning that show up in the "bell icon" at the top (notification centre). If anything is wrong it will tell you there.

 

F4SE, by the way, is a program that adds script functions to allow mods to do things the game wasn't originally designed to do.

F4SE is a Script Extender adding extra functionality. It is needed for mods like "place Everywhere" which is pretty mandatory, imho, for settlement building.
