InDarkestNight
I've BEGGED AND BEGGED over and over again for help. I've asked everywhere on the internet, from here to reddit to the steam boards and I don't even know where else. Not a single god damned soul has every helped me in the slightest. I don't even know why I keep BEGGING for help at this point. I kept crashing when doing one load order, so I made another with virtually no overlap in mods. The only mods shared are SkyUI and graphics mods pretty much. I thought my game would be more stable, it is not. I froze before I even got to level 2. At least with the previous load order I could get to about level 20 before I started having issues. What the bloody hell could be wrong with my game? Its unplayable due to the relentless crashes and freezes that refuse to go the f*#@ away no matter what I do. I've literally installed every fix there is, and while they do prevent some crashes, more just appear. What the hell could I be doing wrong? What, is one of my re-textures bad? Does my computer just not want me to be able to play Skyrim? I was forced to quit SE due to the relentless updates, and the game being far too unstable to play. I couldn't enter dragonsreach, had to save every few seconds while walking the roads EVEN IF i DIDN'T HAVE SO MUCH AS SKSE INSTALLED. I'm starting to think I just can't play skyrim. Literally no other program has ever given me the issues this game has. Am I not allowed to play f*#@ing skyrim? I've fought tooth and nail for years now to get this game into a playable state, and I've completely run out of options. I tried running the game with NO MODS AND GRAPHICS SET TO THE LOWEST POSSIBLE, and still I got relentless crashes. Literally nothing I do helps. Skyrim just doesn't want to run on my machine even though I well exceed its system requirements. I got three f*#@ing crashes on the day this game came out on my previous windows 7 computer! What am I supposed to do? I don't see anyway I can play f*#@ing skyrim anymore. What do I have to do to get f*#@ing help? As I've said, I've begged and begged over and over AND NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON HAS EVER EVEN TRIED TO HELP ME. What do I have to do? Give people f*#@ing money to help me? I don't even want to go through the trouble of posting my load order YET AGAIN, because no one ever acknowledges it when I do so, and half the time I never get another reply EVER. I'm at my wit's end here, I can do NOTHING to get my game playable. What am I doing f*#@ing wrong? What is wrong with all my computers where I keep getting stupid issues that NOBODY ELSE DOES? Recently, I've been having a problem with a retexture for Holidays causing all its assets to turn purple. This happens even if I remove every single mod other than SkyUi. This shouldn't be possible, but its happening. In SE I have a guaranteed crash in dragonsreach that is completely unaffected by everything I do. Zero mods, a thousand, it makes no f*#@ing difference. I'm starting to think that this has nothing at all to do with the game and there's something wrong with my computer, because literally nothing I do makes a difference. I can't even remember the last time I completed a playthrough because of the game's instability. What else can I do? Do I need to just give up playing skyrim, and never come to this board again? Its literally the last game I have. All my other games have been updated into something I either don't enjoy or straight can't play (f*#@ YOU TERRARIA DEVS). If I lose Skyrim, I will never play another game again, BECAUSE I OWN NO OTHERS. There won't hardly even be a point to turning on this $1000 gaming computer I bought 5 years ago. Honestly, I'm shocked this thing even turns on anymore how old it is. Its not giving me any problems (outside of Skyrim), but as we all surely know computers live shorter and shorter lives every year. This computer's already surprised the lifespan computers normally have. I'm surprised at times it even still turns on. SOMEONE f*#@ING HELP ME GET THE ONLY GAME I OWN ANYMORE AND WILL EVER OWN WORKING AGAIN. What do I have to do to get f*#@ing help? I've done everything I can, and its not enough. Do I seriously have to pay people to help me? What do I have to f*#@ing do TO GET ONE f*#@ING REPLY?????
Guest deleted34304850
its funny because i've read your winy-ass posts on these forums and seen people actually step up to help you. never, not once have you thanked those who did, or come back to tell them if their recommendations worked, or if they didn't work, what happened.instead, what i did see from you is even more whiny-ass posts calling out literally everyone, who owe you NOTHING, for not waving a magic wand for you. you seriously need to look at how you communicate, how you ask for help and how you interact with those few who do attempt to assist. no-one owes you anything. InDarkestNight
If a starving man came to you begging for food, would you refuse to give him any even if you had some to spare? You wouldn't 'owe' that man anything, but it would still be wrong to deny him aid if it was in your means. Given how people treat homeless people, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that my posts normally get ignored. If people aren't willing to help someone who is in need, why would they care to help me get this stupid game to function?

gnarly1
<terminated>Writing a novella every time you post doesn't help either. Try channeling Hemingway. People won't help you if it necessitates having to read a whiny rant first. Your first problem is that you are using Oldrim/SLE meaning the potential for issues to arise is increased. Lots of people prefer Oldrim but usually they are veteran mod users who understand how to avoid, find and resolve conflicts. SSE isn't perfect either but at least it's foundationally more stable than Oldrim and it's easier to get it to a state where it (almost) never crashes. I recommend using STEP to create a foundation of mods/utilities that ensure Skyrim is as stable and bug-free as possible via a modlist that is already conflict-resolved. STEP doesn't support Oldrim anymore, but if you insist on using Oldrim you should be able to find the old STEP modlist for Oldrim. The STEP community will also help you with any problems you might encounter. Of course, you'll want to add further mods on top of STEP and to help avoid and resolve conflicts you could use 'The Method' as described in the xEdit documentation. Be methodical, read mod descriptions and understand how the tools you are using work before using them to modify your modlist and resolve conflicts. InDarkestNight
I've done all that. Followed the step guide for LE, installed enboost, crash fixes, everything else under the sun. I meticulously analyze my mods, reading the descriptions asking questions that I can't find an answer to on the mod page, pouring over the esp itself. I actually make my own bash patches by hand, because the results that wyre bash generates doesn't satisfy me. Also, I already stated that LE is far more stable on my machine than SE for some reason. I know that's not the normal experience, but its true in my case. I crash far more often on SE than I do LE. Heck, I have guaranteed crashes in SE that refuse to go away no matter what I do. I couldn't start the main quest line because of this. I've literally followed every guide to the letter, sometimes re-doing them over and over again, I do everything in my power to make sure my mods don't conflict. Heck, ITS HOW i LEARNED TO MOD. I never learned from any tutorial, because they're all for the creation kit, half of which refuses to do anything on my machine for utterly no reason. I LEARNED TO MAKE MODS BY PLAYING WITH THEM. To me, there's no clear boundary between a mod user and a mod author. If you're a mod user, you're essentially a mod author yourself. What you're really doing is creating your own compilation pack. Heck, if you look on youtube you see people literally making their own combat overhauls by installing multiple overlapping combat mods. You have to be a mod maker yourself to mod this game at all. I know this because of how much work I have to put into making sure mods work together. I literally spend MONTHS working on load orders before I actually play them, ironning out every single issue I can find, and its still not enough. What more could I do? Seriously. I can find NOTHING I haven't done already. I've already done the step guide, installed every fix I can find, I even installed a New Vegas mod (New Vegas Anti Crash). It fixed quite a lot of issues, though honestly I'm starting to question that. I'm starting to think it just replaced my crashes with freezes, which are obviously even more annoying. Why does half the functions of my creation kit not work? I've found that its apparently missing files that it should have. Completely re-installing it doesn't fix the issue. So what's wrong? I've spent years exhausting every guide I can find. I literally can't find any hint of anything else I can do. There's nothing more I can install, no more tweaks I could make to my game files, nothing. I've scoured the nexus for more fixes and simply can't find one I HAVEN'T INSTALLED. I've even checked my script latency using a tool, but even keeping that in a healthy range doesn't help for some reason. I avoid running enbs and paralax textures. For a time I was running only 1k textures, but I switched back to 2k after I found that it actually didn't make a difference. Keep in mind, staying 100% vanilla makes no difference either. gnarly1
<snippity>Another post that contains twice as many words as necessary. I'm starting to see a pattern here - people recommending you not do something and you ignoring them. Post a link to the thread at the STEP forums where you asked for help with your STEP LE install. InDarkestNight
I've done so stinking much to fix the issue. How else can I state it in a way that doesn't require a long text? Also, I can't imagine what type of world you live in where you think what I'm typing is a lot. Its a common criticism I get from posting load orders too. I post them, everyone just blasts me for doing so because of how many esps it contains. I can't help that. I have thought about merging mods, but that always creates all sorts of issues. I thought about it again recently, but I didn't see anyway I could do it with so many mods overriding each other's loose files. Would it help? Maybe, wrye bash tells me I could merge about 20 mods. I just don't see how I could pull off such a feat though. Also, I don't technically have a lot of mods installed; over half my load orders tend to just be compatibility patches. In reality, its more like each mod takes up half a dozen esp slots. Edited October 14, 2023 by InDarkestNight
