Of Burning Deaths

The LittleFatWoman had made all of the Grand Aldmer machines, in the Good Freshing Temple, melt down into solid masses that were now no longer useable at all as mechanisms. She spoke one more time before she vanished, almost as if she had never been there. "The Ayleid have gone to a good sanctuary for they suffered and came to basic enlightenment. I suggest you focus on dealing with stopping as many burning deaths, and kyne transmutations, as possible." Then she was gone, almost as if she had never been there.

Mulder showed up, frowning. "The Grand Aldmer device, that I was examining, just melted down into a big cube."

Scully told him about the LittleFatWoman.

Olisha, and Samsal, looked into each others eyes for a time. Then Samsal spoke. "The LittleFatWoman stopped us from learning vital information about the burning deaths and the infestation. Something did not feel 'right' about what just happened and yet it did not feel 'truly wrong' either."

But what could they do about it? How could they gain a greater understanding of what had taken place? They had to do some planning, some thinking, and meet with others who might help come up with answers.

Of Burning Deaths

The kynes vanished almost overnight and both the burning deaths and kyne transmutations ceased happening in the Shades. Shapeshifting fleshkynes vanished from the Empire and the three battles ceased as the enemy was suddenly gone. Witnesses noted great numbers of kynes suddenly suffering burning deaths. Everybody seemed to be taken by surprise, even the Nine Divines.

It was not assumed, by all, that the kynes were ended as a threat. The use of healkooma was able to cleanse many of the infestation through out the Shades, along with the assistance of the divine magical spheres provided by the Wild Divine Willow. The magical bags stopped producing spheres and then vanished but only after many thousands had been saved by their use.

Emperor Uriel Septum VII called for a grand meeting in the Grand Imperial Palace for any who would come to be part of the information exchange to assist all; an amnesty was put into place for all official, and unofficial, enemies of the Empire.

Grand Marshal TorekiekaVia, a Grand Aldmer, came from the place of the great secret battle and brought with him advisers, bodyguards and others including some very exotic entities.

Dremora Lord Casskia came representing MehrunesDagon for it turned out that Mankar Cameron had vanished, along with his 'paradise' realm. Even the Daedric Prince, that Mankar was serving, could not find him. Of course had had dremora bodyguards and advisers but also human leaders of the MythicDawn and the MythicFist. The human leaders appeared overwhelmed, even frightened, by the dremora who openly treated them with contempt.

ArchMage Hannibal Traven represented both the Arcane University and the Mages Guild, bringing others with him. Other Imperial Guild leaders came, mostly being Elders and their followings. The Merchants Guild, the Factors Guild, the Artisans Guild, the Bankers Guild were represented but so were such as the Thieves Guild and Assassins Guild. The Sages Guild came also along with many others minor or not much known about.

Dark Brotherhood people showed up and were welcomed, with caution, for they had a habit of knowing much, of knowing many dark secrets.

Representatives came from the main cities of Cyrodiil but also from secondary cities. Some royalty came as did a few Governors but not all for the Empire still had to be ruled, to be managed.

Of Burning Deaths

Star Marshal Drake Septum went also with high commanders of the various Imperial Military Forces such as the Legions, the Marines, the Navy and the newer Airnavy with its magical flying vessels. The Legionards sent representatives as did the various Imperial Guard Forces and City Guard Forces. With them went their entourages.

Others went also so that soon there were far more guests than had been expected and those who managed the event were soon in barely controlled chaos as they struggled to manage the situation. Security became pressured as did catering, finding room for everybody, and much else including the supply of basic items such as beds and soap for the baths.

The Emperor sat in his Dragonthrone and either slept or met with group after group after group. Even as he did so information was taken in by archivists and exchanged between different groups of visitors as the Imperial Eye tried to regulate just what information went to who. The true Emperor had the Imperial Brain, in masks and hooded robes, come forth to advise various groups.

Then appeared Kylafara, the Divine of Divine Representation, being the Envoy of the Thirteen Divines. She spoke calmly with the Emperor but only briefly before the tall, impressive female figure departed instantly just as she had appeared in the first place. None, but Uriel, knew what she said but soon after both the Dark Brotherhood people and the MehrunesDagon people were forced to leave. The Emperor seemed quite angry at what had taken place and it became clear he had been pressured to evict the two sets of visitors.

Of Burning Deaths

It was about that time that the real search for the reasons behind the Burning Deaths began involving a relatively small group of Slayers Guild people, the Investigators Guild people and others assisting them. The furroaches had become honorary Slayers, including the first batch of furroach babies. Why the real search began then, and there, and by the group was for a variety of reasons.

The LittleFatWoman had not, in truth, melted down all of the Grand Aldmer mechanisms but made it seem so until Olisha, and Samsal, shared the same dream. When they awoke there was exposed a small hallway tunnel to a grand chamber full of disturbing wonders.

No less than six Waygates were there being three standard sized (like the one the Slayer Twins had used earlier), two bigger ones and one massive one. There were great mechanisms with hundreds of slanted capsules with entities inside, of different kinds. There was a great cube with a turret on top from which went long metallic tentacles ending in softly glowing spheres. There were what seemed like metallic stone dispensing devices. There were many others. It soon became clear that there was more than Grand Aldmer workings in that chamber; there were FirstOne workings and those of mysterious, exotic peoples such as the Waygate focused WayOnes, the FirstOnes serving OldOnes, the deep nocturnal DarkOnes, the Aldmer cousins the strange cyborg Mechamer and the even stranger MultiOnes. Yet they also 'sensed' a subtle, ancient, presence beyond that of any of the FolkOnes or Mer.

Yet the oddest folks there were mundane in a sense for they were humans in jumpsuits and the human influences shown through out the chamber such as hardware interfaces that looked something like advanced computer consoles complete with 3Dflatscreens and holoprojectors.

Samsal spoke. "Those humans are from the mageborn supercontinent of Earthriel. I do not know if they are mageborn but they are related somehow. I 'sense' no threat from them."

That was when there was an exotic shimmering through the great chamber, most of it yet to be properly explored, and then everybody in the chamber blacked out. When they awoke the whole group was there, including furroaches snuggled up to Olisha and Samsal. Yet there were also others who woke to the surprise of being there.

Of Burning Deaths

There were Imperial Blades led by Jauffre himself and young Baurus was there along with Cat, the woman Blade, who kept him fairly close to herself. There were Guild Mages, mercenaries, Legionaries, Rangers, scholars, artisans and quite a few other kinds of folks. About half were human but there were orcs, other Mer, and so called beastfolk of catfolk, amphibious lizardfolk and apefolk. There were peaceful, furry goblin like, hoblins and so called tame goblins (gobbers).

There were yet others, some of very surprising nature for they had come from some of the body-capsules and only a few of those were the jumpsuit wearing humans.

Zero 10.1[114]

Of the Orbis Observing

The Orbis observed how the kynes burned away across Tamriel but it also observed the released energies, from those kynes, stream towards the Dark Temple Zone deep in the Shades. The Orbis failed to observe exactly what absorbed the energies, for it was shielded somehow, but the 'thing' that took it was antinatural, amazing powerful and full of malice.

The Orbis observed a great dark magical sphere enwrap the Grand Imperial Palace and the real Emperor Uriel Septum VII along with all the others there. In one stroke the the prime of the imperial leadership, of the Empire, was largely cut off from the rest of the Empire. The Emperor fell into a deep sleep state and could not be woken. It appeared to have been a trap of some kind.

The Orbis observed the Empire fall under emergency rule of the Imperial Elders Council. Martial law was declared through out large areas of the Empire. The Mages Guild, and Arcane University, along with other magic users began to try to free up the Grand Imperial Palace and those trapped inside.

The Orbis observed the Demidivines meet at Lakehaven as RedSonja, Jadekia and Xandia utilise growing abilities to work with Hawkhaven to move from one of its aspects to another with far more ease.

The Orbis observed the Wild Divine Willow come under powerful magical attack and become forced to retreat to her divine magical place, in Imperiarna, along with others that had found sanctuary there.

The Orbis observed a great fleet of dark steammagic ships, and airships, approaching Tamriel from the direction of the Friendlies Archipelago.

The Orbis observed the sudden start of a great exodus of deeper underground peoples up to cave systems far closer to the surface. Instead of battles breaking out between the newcomers and such as goblins, and hoblins, alliance were formed to fight against something coming up from very deep below.

Two 8.1[115]
Of Hawkhaven Challenges

'Find the fifty thousand genuine fakes, the reality of what that meant came to the five Demidivines as they poured powerful soothing serums into the Lake of Ever Laughing Tears. For the child creature, at the bottom of the lake, had been gifted with the 50,000 curious artifacts and then, as it slept in its own fashion, the items had been stolen somehow.

The LittleFatGirl suddenly stood there, almost as if she had always been there, and she spoke with a tired smile. "Games, the deities play games, the Nameless Enemy plays games and children, of all kinds, play games. The 50,000 genuine fakes are dangerous toys and must be regained and returned to the Lake of Ever Laughing Tears, to the great big infant that was once an aspect of the Nameless Enemy. This one is a hope, a future guardian, against the Nameless Enemy but it wants, needs, its 50,000 exotic powerful toys. She-he is the Lake Child of Ever Laughing Tears but you can just call her-him LakeChild."

The LittleFatGirl, a younger looking version of the LittleFatWoman, sat on the shore of the lake and soon a big beautiful ugly eye-stalk rose from the water and studied her intently. Then it bobbed up and down as if with happiness as a tentacle came out and its tip curled up on the LittleFatGirl's lap. She stroked it gently.

She spoke again. "There is more to the quest than I have spoken of before but you must go and discover that for yourselves, all five of you, along with some more assistance. For each of you three primary clones and nine secondary clones to be summoned, or unsummoned, as needed. More permanently twenty elite warrior-mage nymphs of the Amazikins. Along with these five Bags of Useful Surprises. Use the divine magical bags only when most needed for they are very powerful and the bags take vital time to recharge before you can use them again."

The LittleFatGirl provided all there with a meal, including fine food and drinks, picnic fashion on silken blankets. She took some large glistening jelly globes out of a bag and threw them into the water except for one she fed directly to a tentacle-mouth of LakeChild.

It was a quite, peaceful time. The LittleFatGirl informed them that the name of Multihaven was a more recent term for the many 'Hawkhavens' but there was a far more ancient name that they had to discover for themselves.

Two 9.1[116]
Of Hawkhaven Challenges

The five Hero Demidivines, with the 20 Amazikin warrior nymphs, set out riding horses through a temporary way, that they summoned, that took them directly to Runehaven (Hawkhaven). From Runehaven had come whispers of a power struggle as one of the Runelords had equipped his followers with 1,000 exotic devices. As soon as the group entered the version, of Hawkhaven, made up of steep walled canyons, and buildings carved out of canyon walls, the finder-wands glowed showing that some of the 50,000 genuine fakes were in that zone.

At once a cluster of black robed, leathery skinned humanoids, attacked the group being each equipped with a glowing sphere in the left hand and a gleaming steel alloy shortsword in the other. From the spheres shot beams of sizzling heat and yet they did no harm to the group, stopping in mid air. Instead the Demidivines each held up a sphere of their own, as given to them by the LittleFatGirl, and the enemy held spheres vanished.

Shouting, screaming, echoed through the maze of canyons that made up Runehaven. A great battle was being waged.

Jadekia spoke to her sister comrades. "Now is the time to take back the 1,000 heat-spheres from the Runehaveners that have them and to learn how they gained them in the first place. Runehaven is said to be normally peaceful, with a finely tuned balance of power kept between the Runelords. We need to help return Runehaven to that state of existence."

So that it what they set out to do.

Riel Stories Epic
Three 1.1[117]
Of Burning War

Somehow it was no surprise that the huge chamber had become the center of a network of chambers, tunnels, and other spaces that was far more than just a complex. It existed in a kind of dimensional pocket and was known as the Second Grand Aldmer Coveta of the Thirteen Grand Aldmer Covetas. Though much of it was inactive, or only semiactive, enough was active to serve well those in it.

There were answers to be found there about the Grand Aldmer, the true history as hidden behind the fate of the Common Aldmer that had vanished to become many Mer peoples. Yet the truth was not easy to access being inside ancient Grand Aldmer mechanisms and in the form of coded wall murals and picture-word records.

Mulder, Scully and others focused on learning more about the Burning Deaths, and other matters, from the Grand Aldmer Coveta. They soon gained the startling truth that all the historical events of the infestations, and the burning deaths that went with them, with directly linked together through an event that had yet to take place. Other events were important, some very important, but the prime one belonged to the future. They set out to learn more.

Olisha, and Samsal, set out from the Second Grand Aldmer Coveta by going through a Waygate that took them, via a very short Waygateway, into the Dark Temple Zone of the Grand Imperial Undercity. As soon as they walked out of a 'small' Waygate they discovered why the zone had its name. A strange darkness filled the place that was not natural for it resisted sources of light and disturbing darker shadows lurked inside it.

The fairly large group of Slayers, other fighters, and battlemages passed through a great demonic temple of monstrous statues of ghastly forgotten demonic gods and smaller statues of demonic soldiers, workers and servitors that served the gods. The evil power there was only a feint left over of what had once been there but it was bad enough to disturb the group members.

They halted before a truly massive central statue, hunched and malevolent, a distorted reflection of something that was already known to them. It was a real shock when they realized it was an evil, warped, version of the LittleFatMan himself.
