Ok i gave up playing Skyrim SE. All Protons makes me CTD after i press Play in the launcher - except that old Skyrim SE Proton, which doesn't play music and voices...

You already tried Verify integrity of game files and/or reinstall, I take it?

Not a bad option either. 🙂  I still play LE/Oldrim myself, to continue my existing characters and occasionally start new ones.

Hy yes, i did that too. And it really doesn't matter if Skyrim works with DLCs. 🙂

Oi!
Bom dia!

O Proton que eu usava era Proton 6.3 (com alguns congelamentos – problema de Mods) ou 7.0 (raros congelamentos – problema de Mods);

02- No SkyrimSE + Aniversário 1.6.1170, Placa de Vídeo GTX 650, SO Mint 20, 21...

O Proton que eu uso é Proton 7.0 (raros congelamentos – problema de Mods);

03- No SkyrimSE + Aniversário 1.6.1170, Placa de Vídeo RTX 2060 Super, SO Mint 21...

O Proton que eu uso é Proton 7.0 (raros congelamentos – problema de Mods), ainda não testei Proton 8.0;

04- No Valheim, Placa de Vídeo GTX 650, SO Mint 20, 21…

O Proton que eu uso é Proton 6.3 (raros congelamentos – problema com Mods desatualizado) comando de linha inicial (./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% -console (para F5));

05- No Valheim, Placa de Vídeo RTX 2060 Super, SO Mint 21…

O Proton que eu uso é Proton 6.3 (raros congelamentos – problema com Mods desatualizado), comando de linha inicial (./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% -console (para F5)). Parece que não aceita o Proton 7.0;

Parece que o Proton está relacionado à Placa de Vídeo, ao Processador e ao Sistema Operacional. Não tenho certeza, mas é o que parece.

Abaixo um link da página do ProtonDB SkyrimSE…

https://www.protondb.com/app/489830

Hey!
Good morning!

I'm reading your comments about how some games work on Steam for Linux and I'm going to comment on how it works on my PC (SkyrimSE 1.5.97 (+ DLCs); SkyrimSE + Anniversary 1.6.1170 (+ DLCs); Valheim).

01- In SkyrimSE 1.5.97 (before update 1.6), GTX 650 Video Card, OS Mint 19, 20, 21…

The Proton I used was Proton 6.3 (with some freezes – Mod problem) or 7.0 (rare freezes – Mod problem);

02- In Skyrim + Anniversary 1.6.1170, GTX 650 Video Card, OS Mint 20, 21…

The Proton I use is Proton 7.0 (rare freezes – Mods problem);

03- In SkyrimSE + Anniversary 1.6.1170, RTX 2060 Super Video Card, OS Mint 21…

The Proton I use is Proton 7.0 (rare freezes – Mods problem), I haven't tested Proton 8.0;

04- In Valheim, GTX 650 Video Card, OS Mint 20, 21…

The Proton I use is Proton 6.3 (rare freezes – problem with outdated Mods) start line command (./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% -console (for F5));

05- In Valheim, RTX 2060 Super Video Card, OS Mint 21…

The Proton I use is Proton 6.3 (rare freezes – problem with outdated Mods), start line command (./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% -console (for F5)). It doesn't seem to support Proton 7.0;

Below is a link to the ProtonDB SkyrimSE page…

It's a good place to learn how to use Proton in the game, and on Steam.

About Audio…

I don't know if it works 100% in SkyrimSE, because I don't wear the earphones, they stay on the table. Game without sound, because the sound distracts from the game. And when you manage multiple Followers, it gets complicated. Each Follower has strange behavior, so you need to pay attention to each one of them. It's hard work, but fun.

Hope this helps

I've never played without sound.  Though being prone to sensory overload sometimes IRL, I can see why some people might.

For me, sound adds to the game.  I can hear nearby enemies, or hear the music stop or change when some are nearby.  And the game music and ambient sound can really add to a scene's mood.

Oh yes -- a challenge, no matter what OS you're playing the game on. 😎  (Especially if your follower-control mod doesn't make them avoid traps.)

Oi!
Bom dia!

Bem…
Mudando um pouco de assunto.
Fiz duas descobertas interessante…

06- No SkyrimSE + Aniversário 1.6.1170, Placa de Vídeo RTX 2060 Super, SO Mint 21...

O Proton que eu uso é Proton 8.0 (raros congelamentos – problema de Mods), ainda não funciona no Proton 9.0;

07- No Valheim, Placa de Vídeo RTX 2060 Super, SO Mint 21…

O Proton que eu uso é Proton 7.0 (raros congelamentos – problema com Mods desatualizado), comando de linha inicial (./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% -console (para F5)), ainda não funciona no Proton 8.0;

Espero que ajude alguém com essas informações.

Obrigado pela sua atenção

Hey!
Good morning!

Thank you for the “Welcome!”

About the audio…
Yes, you are right, it helps a lot with the game’s immersion.

There is also another reason for leaving the sound aside, besides Followers. It's the Difficulty factor. As I (player), do not dare the sound, so the Character runs the risk of being caught by surprise, without having to increase the difficulty of the game. This way of playing is quite interesting. I'm already used to the style.

About Followers…
Yes, traps are a concern, It is necessary be aware.

What I'm going to report below, I don't know if the behavior is part of Bethesda's development or the Followers Mod. The doubt remains.

What happens is the following…

When the character is walking in Silence, the Followers stand up to do gymnastics. This is very funny and ends the character's stealth, and the enemy becomes alert and attacks.

It’s something that doesn’t make any sense at all.

Well…
Changing the subject a little.
I made two interesting discoveries…

06- On Skyrim + Anniversary 1.6.1170, RTX 2060 Super Video Card, OS Mint 21…

The Proton I use is Proton 8.0 (rare freezes - Mods problem), it still doesn't work on Proton 9.0;

07- In Valheim, RTX 2060 Super Video Card, OS Mint 21…

The Proton I use is Proton 7.0 (rare freezes – problem with outdated Mods), start line command (./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% -console (for F5)), it still doesn't work on Proton 8.0;

I hope this information helps someone.

I've just started Planescape: Torment

I've played - many times over -  and absolutely adore Baldur's Gate I&II ; and I've also played Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale. In fact, I bought all of them again on Steam when they became available that way so that Steam maintains them not me! But Torment seems to have passed me by. It maybe because I like creating my own start character and Torment allows that only up to a point. However, it uses the Infinity Engine so is very familiar to me. It's a strange game. For me it's a bit like being in BGI&II, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights all at once...

Anyway, no issues - very stable because it runs from Steam...

everything running smoothly on Ubuntu 23.10!

I moved to Mint a couple of weeks ago so the rebuild fun goes on... 🤣 Actually, the switch was easy. I'm already familiar with Cinnamon as I was running a very old Mint and Cinnamon set up on an old machine. I'm now going to switch the old machine to something else... maybe Arch...

I'm still bemused by Torment...  I think it gets stranger by the minute... There's apparently Torment 2 which lets you build your own char but I can't work out from the reviews whether I'd like it or not!
