Personally I will listen to most music, but I like those that I listed. I also like movie soundtracks. Infact right now I am listening to the Triplets of Belleville Soundtrack. On the radio I only listen to the classic rock station, but I would rather my own music (what I listed in my above post).

The discussion wasnt about wether you like Led Zeppelin or not, what we talked about was the complexity of a guitarr solo :P

yes of course music is all about personal taste, you dont need to explain that for me, Im not gonna tell you whats good or bad music, just what I think is good music.

I have not tried to convince you in any way, I listed what I listen to and what solo I liked.

That rather contradicts your previous, post, then:

In that case you dont know anything about guitarr solo's. The end solo in Stairway To Heaven is perfect.

I'm glad you agree with me that music is all about personal taste, then.

Adras, don't you find that listening to the radio introduces you to new kinds of music, or to bands you hadn't heard before? I've recently discovered a good radio station which plays a lot of little-known stuff that I probably wouldn't have heard anywhere else.

Having found a few radio stations which play the kind of music I like I tend to listen to them quite a lot.

I love listening to the radio - I have hundreds of bands and songs to look up because of it. Unfortunately, the only station that really played indie bands and the like was shut down less than a year ago...and replaced by a hispanic station.

Anyway, I agree that music is all in personal taste. I'm not a fan of guitar solos during which you have time to go make a cavewich (props to Shin ) and return before it's over. On the other hand, I do like some guitar solos that are short but sweet, such as Saul Hudson's in "Slither."

Bands I forgot to mention:

-Richard Cheese: lounge covers of heavy/hard rock songs by bands like RATM, NIN, etc... Funny as sh*t.

-Rancid

-The Aquabats

-Techno (Mostly Euro-House/Trance)

-Classical: Check out Renee Gruss. Modern guy, but Antares is brilliant.

You can be sure of my unlimited envy. The quality of radio broadcasting seems to differ vastly between various countries, the radio stations I could listen to all play the same Pop/Hip Hop-stuff (to be more precise, they have virtually identical play lists), with the exception of some public stations which play either classic music or that awful kind of Schlager and Volksmusik.

Hehe - the only times I listen to 'normal' radio are in the car, and to the news in the morning - the 'radio' stations I was referring to are internet ones - the ones I usually switch between are Funeral Nation and Deathrock Radio.

iTunes: DI.fm.... Techno's good stuff. They have tons of different radio stations to check out.

Launch.com also has great readio. It's Yahoo, but it's pretty nice. You rate albums, songs, and artists (individually); you can also rate music genres, etc... Based upon your ratings, they play bands, songs, and albums you rate highly, and often play music that fits your likes. If you don't like a song, album, or artist, you can block it from being played again. And you can skip songs. It's brilliant.
