Fully agree - functionally the difference between BCE and a DLC the scale of say, Hearthfires comes down to the manufacturers label on the tin.

Could even argue that EEE surpasses Hearthfire in terms of scope. Doesn't matter, though, because Nexus considers Armored Mudcrab to be more legitimate than BCE or EEE or Blood and Snow.

oh god I forgot about sim4  modding mess

$900 of DLC for Sims 4, you can upload mods that require specific DLC. Train Sim World 4 has $2,600 of DLC and mods can be uploaded that patch or require these (I assume.)

Yet, when Bethesda allows Modders to actually be compensated for their work, Nexus, a site that was born from Bethesda games modding, is going to turn against us and specifically us? It's insane.

This is essentially screwing over any author making content with verified creations and any user who has purchased a verified creation. I get that you don't want the Nexus to be a vector for advertisement, but at the very least, patch hubs - singular pages to contain all the patches for a paid mod - should be allowed.

Until then, this is a very upsetting decision that shows a general lack of consideration for both the creator and user base both on the Nexus and around gaming communities in general.

As I see you are coming from a genuine place, I would agree with you up to this point, and explain the reasoning of other factors that people don't take into account.
Beth has all that money, infrastructure and a store front and all that, they make mods and generate profit off it.
Nexus on the other hand host ALL mods completely FREE and also needed patches to make the PAID mod on the Verified program/store work.
So who pays Nexus for the hosting, server maintenance, bandwidth, the staff and so on? The premiums is an income but I'm sure that with the recent influx of wabbajack packs users downloading left and right using all that extra bandwidth they suck on a daily basis, which by the way is also free for them/us, well that all adds up in the end.
So  that's the best way I can try to explain the bigger picture of things that no one is considering and why some decisions have to be made.
with the reminder that Bethesda set the rules first and not Nexus so Nexus has to play the game the best they can without losing it all to M$ and Beth's corporate greed, which that is another monster of a subject on it's own.

In business you have to pick the best outcome for the business, if you  consider how if affects every person 1 by 1 and not base it on the majority with some level of compromise to stay in business, then might as well close the shop.
hope that helps a little but you should also go see what rules Bethesda has in place so you can perhaps understand Nexus stance even if you don't agree but at least you would see the Nexus side of things.
Blessings.

No, you don't get it, because the compatibility patches that you are free to completely ignore in a FOMOD are free content.

Which are Fomods with stuff for FREE Content
Which again, nothing has been mentioned in the OP about FREE stuff unless and it's made very clear, it DEPENDS , NEEDS  purchasing or already purchased PAID content to use it.

If modpack users are the problem, then find a way to make the modpack users pay. Don't penalize the rest of us.

Isn't the arguement that patches for paid mods being a threat to Nexus's Finances more than a bit laughable?

I'm pretty sure the unofficial patch page for Bards College Expansion is a fraction of the size of one the waifu mods that was posted within the last day.

No one is saying Nexus needs to bear the brunt of the infrastructure to support paid mods, but we are saying that we'd like to be able to have the patches for them here, such that we can make them work with mods that are coming from here.

Nonsense.

Nexus Mods makes money by selling Premium Subscriptions and from advertising served to people viewing mod pages.

Both of these things are increased by Nexus Mods hosting patches for paid VC mods.  From a business perspective declining to host these mods is a loss.

Nexus Mods, however, has a policy of trying to support the free modding community.  They clearly think this is what they can do to best support the free modding community.

We are well within our rights to try to convince them that this decision is detrimental to the free modding community, not a benefit to it.

And you don't understand Beth's rules well enough to even understand that the stuff you quoted earlier was about using other authors assets in your paid mod, not about compatibility patches, so please stop trying to bring that nonsense up.  As you say...this is our native language, you're the one that's reading it wrong.

Except that entire FOMOD to patch free content is going to be banned for having a Bards College Expansion patch in it as an option. OP literally stated this.

They do, they offer the Premium services, no one forces it but it's offered to help the site in exchange for somelittle perks, and again they are reacting to rules set by Bethesda not because they just woke up and decided to do it, so if you feel it's punishment then go question the ones causing it, and not Nexus for wanting to survive.

Except Bethesda hasn't changed their policy - Nexus did "wake up and choose violence"  For the most part people aren't having a fit about anything other than the Nexus position on patches that are for paid mods, specifically as it relates to those paid mods that are hosted on Bethesda's store.

Bethesda's position has been that paid mods have some degree of official blessing, so they specifically aren't against EULA as is stated in Nexus's announcement about why they're doing this.

Which makes this seem a little fishy.
