Clicking the NexusMods Logo (Upper Left) Launches NexusMods, but the login credentials are not transferred, forcing one to login a second time.

This is not a bug, it's just how the service works. Each subdomain is considered the separate "app". The only ones that are synced together are nexusmods.com and next.nexusmods.com (and users.nexusmods.com) - anything else has a separate login session. If you want to improve consistency, delete all your cookies and log in from scratch.

When was this change implemented?

Early on, the way to remediate login issues when logging into NexusMods was to log into the Forums and launch NexusMods from there.  This created an instance of fully logged in NexusMods.

Are the forums not a "subdomain"? https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14988

One Login to rule them all
Remember how annoying it was to have to log in to Nexus Mods, and then log in again for collections, and again for your profile, and again for...well you get the idea. Now, when you log in or out of Nexus Mods, you’re also logged in or out of our subdomains. So, whether you’re on Collections, User Profiles, or any settings page, one login does it all.

This changed when we upgraded to the new version of Invision Community. The old forum was directly tied to the website. This was coming up for a year ago now. https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14891

Various things have changed around login on the back end since so it could be something specific affecting your setup in a different way.
