I don't a table formatted crap layout. I am on a PC , NOT a TABLET ! This is exactly what I mean, and have been arguing for. With a list, your eyes move UP and DOWN. With the TILES, your eyes now have to look UP and DOWN, AND LEFT and RIGHT. Tiles are not efficient, and it's a waste of space.

Even ones with displays above HD resolution can't view much content due vertical design unfit for typical PC display, the choose of colors tire your eyes very quickly, the ones with average PC experiencing slowdowns. And last thing which begins to annoy me greatly - Nexus is more and more looking and behaving like an e-shop, rather than a place of modders. I Aggree I use a wide screen and even Windoews 11 reverted back from the hidious button pages back to a normal view and Nexus is now doing something that should have been tried a few years ago and would be burn down then, but it seems they do not care. Peopel wants mods and add mods to their games by a simple layout not by a layout that takes more time to load then the old one and looks not good. ( though the loading times are really a crime, optimizing things before going live should be a pre, ifm the old layout loads faster then the new one, the dev's failed and during testing this should have been clear, this change should never be approved at all)
mygames86
The new layout is annoying. When you are at the front page of a game, e.g. https://www.nexusmods.com/games/skyrimspecialedition click on "View more mods", you used to get to page 2 mods, and only see new mods. You are are on a site where the first new mod is on the first page, last row, second column... has nobody tested the layout beforehand?

Even from the most basic UX perspective, what's the difference between something that's trending and something that's popular? They're synonyms! What about the Surprise button? Am I going to get a jump scare?
chefsbrian
Well the good news is, this thread has been very thorough and captured pretty much every complaint I've had, from the information density issue to the performance issues and quality of life issues. The bad news is, the response from the devs has been... Well lets just say I'm not particularly enthused about the "We've decided this is what modern looks like, and if you don't like it, you're the problem" approach to criticism of the changes. Its pretty clear there's strong opinions on the Nexus side as to why a technical modernization in the backend requires throwing out a working design pattern on the front end, even if there's little interest in elaborating on those opinions. Pretty sure all we can do at this point is vote with our wallets. I've cancelled my auto renewal. NexusMods can, and will, do whatever they like with the site, that's fine. But we don't gotta pay for it.
JezebellPepper
I have no idea what's going on with the "my mods" section but it's seriously fcking annoying. Sometimes I'm able to look at what I've downloaded for a specific game and other times it forces me to look at all 147 mods I downloaded for ALL my games. I DONT WANT TO LOOK AT EVERYTHING AT ONCE. I only want to look at what I downloaded for ONE game. Can you fix this stupid update? I'm so sick of these stupid companies forcing their user bases into these stupid updates NO ONE asked for and then telling us to eat sht and get used to it. TheDapperMrPie
I'm not really one to make comments or posts nor do i visit this forum very often but I've been using nexus for years. This is one of those rare instances where i feel like i want to have my opinion expressed especially for a site that i enjoy. To be blunt, This Ui update is horrible. There is so much wasted space. No color. Things blend together and its just doesn't have a good vibe. I feel like i'm doing the equivalent of eating a bland and dry biscuit. It lacks character. Its another cookie cutter "modern" ui. And i think that's a shame.

JoJoBay3437
I've literally never felt the need to comment in your forums until now. This new update is atrocious and completely ruins the flow of navigating your site. I'm currently using a tampermonkey script to use the old layout where I can (better leave that alone y'all). I don't even care if this update is more usable on mobile, inevitably everyone will use your site on a desktop. *Where all the actual modding will happen*. If I have to browse whatever THIS is to get mods installed then I won't even ever see it.
chwony
I understand what you're trying to do but I think this change is too drastic for existing users. I take it you want to promote collections rather than individual mods. You have a dilemma of angry existing users and your need to push new users into collections. I have a solution. 1. Revert everything to old layout. 2. On signing up of new users make "collections view" the default. Allow a site preference option to choose "mods view". 3. Rename "collections" to "Quick Start", explain what it does when users first register. 4. A big huge unmistakeable pulsating button to toggle between the two, displayed prominently.
