Hi, design person, artist and retired signwriter here. Constructive crit with some humour (I hope) coming up!

Although it's not exactly about the mod pages, it does relate to the home page with all the info graphics on. The little images are mostly absolutely fine but what sticks in my professional craw is the words that are split onto two lines:

     INTERVI

EW

No no no!

I was always told that splitting a word like this is bad form. Every time I see this, I cringe. It looks bad and unprofessional. Better to make the word smaller and fit it into one line, really. Maybe I'm old-fashioned (I am old after all!) but please, stop splitting title words into those two lines. Please don't see this as trolling, I really just hate it though.

Two words, two lines is fine. One word split onto two lines, bad.

AlienSlof 🙂

PS - loving being purple! It's my fave colour!

I can see how, as a sign writer, that'd drive you mad (my grandad was a sign writer), so apologies for that! It's a stylistic choice to create bit of visual interest and energy on those thumbnails. I'll pass this feedback on to the team though.
Glad you're enjoying the purple.

It's early yet, my eyes are still adjusting...
It takes a long time for them to adjust now at my age now, after I wake up.

Hey AlienSlof, long time no see.
Welcome back.
I remember you from Waaaaaay back in the OLD (And much better, than the new) Bethesda Forums.

I remember you too! Still around and getting older and more decrepit by the year! Not been on Beth's forums in a very long time - it wasn't the most welcoming of places as I recall.

Wanted to chime back in saying that while I'm certainly still able to use the site, the problems I've outlined in previous posts are still very much noticeable and are problems for me:

Collections being before new mods is a worse UX for the average user.  I get collections are a push to use Nexus a ton all at once, but I can't help but imagine most modders are like me where we either have our own load order already and a collection would mess that up, or we're looking for one thing in particular/just checking on new stuff in case it's worth adding.  By all means show collections, but do it below new mods.

The "show more mods" button is still failing to take into account the "more" word by reshowing the 16 mods on the landing page.  When the old site was able to show the equivalent of mod #17 as the first "more mods," the new site failing to do that feels like a loss of functionality and is actually frustrating to know page 1 is 80% useless (since only mods 17-20 will actually be new to see.)

Dead space - this is where people are pointing out feeling like mobile was prioritized over desktop.  My laptop doesn't notice the dead space much, my desktop it's massive and an eyesore.  People with even larger monitors than I have have a COMICAL amount of dead space.  Scalability depending on screen space feels like something a redesign would want to prioritize since more capacity to show mods would be celebrated (which is also why the show more mods button being broken feels so bad).

I appreciate that some actual discussion between users and staff is happening now, so trying to boost the visibility of these so that it's not lost in the "they're just complaining to complain" mindset that seems to have pervaded the last week.

Signwriters unite! Not many of us around any more thanks to self adhesive vinyls! I do think the words would look better - and more stylish - not split like that. I tend to read it in two separate lines and 'ew' is a word usually used to express disgust lol! There are much better eye-catching styles than doing that. I was often told 'use red somewhere' as red is the first colour the human eye registers - goes back to our tree-dwelling, red berry-eating days!

I like the cartoony pics though. 🙂

Beth doesn't even HAVE forums any more.... They have their discord, and that's it...... Of course, when they dumped the forums, that also dumped mod comments on their hosting site.... A decision I find highly questionable..... I don't do discord, and I don't care for beths mod hosting, as there is NO indication there of whether a mod does what it is supposed to do, or if there are any problems with it.....

I think the devs at beth could screw up a wet dream.....

I was looking at the normal mod listing page and while I'm seeing some variable usage, it doesn't look to be for the colors themselves, just their opacity:

Here's just a snippet from what I'm seeing.

Also not sure why tw-text-opacity keeps being defined for each class.

Is the CSS being edited through some other means? Whatever it is is adding a lot of bloat.

So that class .text-neutral-subdued is a variable in our design system, if you change the color value for that it will change all text we set to what we call our subdued foreground colour, subdued refers to the level of contrast with our background (surface) colours. If you see .text-neutral-strong this would be the text that has a higher contrast to our surface colours. This might be useful information for anyone wanting to make their own CSS mixes.

The removal of the blur effect has improved my experience with the site quite a bit (I have severe issues with blur, it's one of the main reasons I get headaches/migraines. I disable it everywhere, even if I have to resort to Reshade. What's the fad with mimicking people like me, who are short sighted? Who likes to look at BLUR?! And the LAG was horrible).

However, I still have other issues. The "New" button is like a light bulb that goes straight into the back of my retinas and leaves a blob there, as if I looked at the sun (I'm photosensitive, so...)

The color scheme is atrocious for me for the reason I mentioned above. After a while, I have a bunch of "ghost letters" floating in my eyes. I need at least an option to change the color scheme to something that isn't "black and white".

Also, get rid of that massive "collections" bar, or give us an option to hide it. I've been modding games since the times of the original NWN, I don't need collections, nor do I care about them.

Finally, get rid of the waste of space. The tiles are too big and have too little information. The previous tiles were much better.

Yeah it's a shame, I love when I see a rare shop window that you can tell someone has hand painted. Ha good point on the "EW" thing, you're the first to raise that. Red is an interesting one, in the west we generally avoid it on the web as it usually denotes "danger" (although there are exceptions), but in India it symbolises "purity" with it being the traditional colour of wedding dresses, and in China it's strongly associated with "Luck".

Discord just updated, and now you can change color themes with a click.
After the update, it picked a darker theme, and I was wondering WHY discord looked harsher then it did before the update.

The problem was, is that it automatically defaulted to a DARKER Theme, with white text, and quickly became a problem.
I went into the Appearance Setting, and THANKFULLY I just REVERTED the Theme color to the lighter gray, that it was set at BEFORE the update.

It was nice being able to pick which version of the UI works for me, and gives my eyes relief.

Also for people saying they donate alot to modders. That is valid yes but dont lose sight of the amount in profits they possibly make. Nexusmods at its heart is a business and will only make changes people want if it hurts them financially.

The stats/numbers below  are educated guesses and not to be taken as a fact .

Making up random guesses as to Nexus Mods revenue isn't relevant to this thread at all.

It's been removed as it's not feedback related to the UI changes, it's just misinformation.
