And there it is, folks.

The Nexus' equivalent of Blizzard's “DO YOU NOT HAVE PHONES?”

For what it's worth, with the new search hitting / and actually clicking the bar do the same thing.  Both bring up the big search window.  You should still be able to click once on the search bar and just start typing.  You get the predictive fills as you type one letter at a time like before.  The only real difference in this instance is by default it gives you search results for several site categories at once, but you can change the default to whichever tab from that search window you want.

There was a big blue banner across the top of the main site for a few weeks inviting you to try the beta. So I'm not sure what else you think we could've done there. That's even more prominent than a news post or a forum banner. If you dismissed/ignored the banner, there's not anything we can do there. We made it dismissable to respect that some users simply weren't interested in it.

Just as an FYI, a lot of people don't go to the site's Main Page. Some of us are here for modding a single game and that's what we come to look at.  I'm on here almost daily and I haven't looked at anything but mod pages in over a year. If you're going to put up a banner for all users to read, it should load on every page, not just the home page.

Pretty much this.  I've been on the main site twice in the past year, both times was because I forgot to add games I was actively modding to my favorites list.  I've been using mostly bookmarked game pages for years(to maintain search parameters), and even the bookmarking is more basic now since you can save(mostly) your desired parameters/exclusions/etc. directly in your profile.

It did.  It loaded on every single page that had a new version in the beta, which included every single mod page.  If you are seeing the new site design on the pages you visit now then the banner was on those pages during the beta.

I think best option is to give people the ability to switch between new & old layout, on the fly. Somehow old one was a lot more comfy to navigate around, with a simple yet elegant look. Not saying new one is bad, but looks a bit way too fancy/modernized.

Can you not use your left hand to first type "/" before "S", then "K"?

This the part where I tell you that I have a mobile phone just to make/receive calls.

Why don't I get a "dumb phone" you say? Because unfortunately, even my ID is now digital, and only a "smart phone" can show it.

I don't use my phone for anything other than that. If I could go back to the days of my Nokia 3310 (the original, not the "smart phone" garbage), I would.

Could someone please tell me why the Media section images are bigger than that of the Mods section? Hell's bells, even the images from Search are bigger than the regular Mods section! It's driving me absolutely buggy. Browsing over new mods has become a colossal strain. The core of the text is even cut off!

Edit: Views from a computer, on the Firefox browser:

Closing this off now with some updates.

Some key areas being looked at:

  • Page contrast and accessibility options on the new pages
  • Different mod tile grid and list view options
  • Wider game home pages
  • Customised game pages

Search Updates

Of note: Quick search can be opened with a single click, or using the "/" shortcut. Quick search can be scoped to a specific game easily, by using it from the game home page. The default search category can be set from your site preferences.

Comment search

This has been reenabled and additional features are in development

Stuff We’re Exploring
Improving mod search further: Searching for keywords in mod descriptions  (in addition to titles, which is the current functionality).
Adding the ‘Mod title contains…’ filter: Bringing this back to mod search listing pages.
Adding more site preferences: Expanding options for the game homepages and listing pages.
Making better use of specific artwork: Enhancing background images on game pages.
Updating the News section: Implementing a new slimmed-down UI and removing the homepage site preference for this.
Fixing some links in the navigation: Resolving issues with 'My Mods' and other links not working properly when scoped by a game.
Fixing some issues with search: Ensuring keywords are retained and search functions correctly when entering no keywords.
Widening the game homepage: Utilising empty space on the sides.
More mod tile grid and list view options.
Contrast and accessibility improvements.
Applying default mod sorting site preferences to search.
