And least useful of all is implying (or saying outright) that the UI designers they hired are bad at their jobs based on your personal tastes on how the UI should work.  Just accept that you might be wrong about what good design is for a large, diverse audience.

And for the love of peace, please stop blatantly insulting the people who work on these designs.  That's just rude.

Sorry, but they brought it on them themselves. All big talk about an overhaul and result is, well... Really, next time they should let speak more their work rather than their ego. And all these complaints aren't just about GUI, there are others, like performance problems.  If these complaints insult them, then why make open beta at all?

Maybe we're all a bit too harsh: They only completely botched 3 aspects of the site-wide update: the layout, the color scheme, and the search function.

Well, I still don't understand why quick search should need an extra window, but I can live with it. But others two directly impacted my user experience for worse, that's for sure.

And for your amusement - GUI of the Past and Today. Dwelling in the past isn't a good thing, but sometimes...

Hey @Isguros - the search results should be more accurate now (we let you include punctuation and also return partial query matches). Can you point me to any specific functionality or results that are worse with this update and we'll take a look. Thanks

If I may just add my thoughts about the new search function....What i feel is worse with this update:

1) Search opens a new page

2) The droplist (which stayed on the page you were actually looking at), is gone.

3) I would much more appreciate the results in a list form, not tiles with large pictures.

And as always, not only on the search page, you are wasting space to the left and to the right. Heck, I'm looking at a 16:9 screen, when will you ever use the space properly? And if you say it's because of the mobile phone users, then open a second NEXUS site which hosts mods just for mobile phones. You could call it "nexusmobilemods.com". Maybe you get some new customers over there, too (not me, though....)

Talking about old times...look at this:

The good old times...and hey, look, back in the old times they even knew how to properly fill a 16:9 screen.

I've heard Search opens a new page a lot from commentators, but I don't see that at all.  Search opens a large menu in front of the page you were on.  You don't lose the page you were on by opening Search. You can do the search and when done, close it, press ESC or just click on the page you were on and you are back to where you were.

A list of search results is an individual preference.  I prefer the search with pics rather than a list.

I agree the formatting of the forums into 3 columns resulting in only 1/3 of the forum space available for active communications (the intention of forums) is not good for pc users.  Yes, wish there was a better solution that didn't lean in favor of smartphone compatibility.  This has been argued to death pretty much; doesn't seem likely to change.  Perhaps Nexus is preparing for the time when smartphones will be the dominate medium for NexusMods.

The best solution would be to make design which can take account an aspect of your display. Are the devs really don't mind scrolling these webpage noodles up and down like crazy on their PCs, because with wide-screen display you see only about little more than 10% of all content at once?  I feel that Nexus isn't a site for creators now, just for passive users and downloaders - a focus just for mobiles is more and more visible. Even with first introdution in about 2015 there were voices pointing out about disadvantages of such design and warnings of degraded user experience overall - all landing on deaf ears of course. But it's too late for crying over spilled milk I suppose.

If you play around with CSS and else you can do that even on a simple wiki if you want in a few days to weeks on your own. I would more likely say. The new design is when it comes to details - lazy. But since there are other things which arent net together lazy (which i dont count now) i must say im confused.

Whatever the reason of nexus is, but most new changes, especially in terms of UI management arent an improvement at all measured on quick to navigate and overall clutter and readability which IIRC was and is the total aim and goal of the design swap. At least for me on a desktop. This might be totally different on smartphones.

I like the dark design though, and can accept it and the majority of (little) flaws to say its good overall. But not really an improvement over the old design.

I wonder if they're planning to add integration into the new app so that you can cue mods from your phone to download to your computer?

I believe that would be the next step in this and account for the work they've put into making the site very smartphone friendly.
