Oh I really don't like this. The top 3rd of the screen is taken up by what is an advertisement for the website I'm already on, and two buttons that are already on the upper bar. Also why would I want to browse just all of the mods on the site instead of scrolling through more games. I get that updating the site for performance reasons is necessary, and just retreading the old team's work on the aesthetics side would have to boring on the developer side, but almost all of the UI changes in the last year have decreased usability and readability of the site. I don't want to be overly negative, and I do like the feature that has been added to show a preview of images uploaded by authors I'm following, but this is another bad update that is bound to put off new users that aren't addicted to this site like us crotchety old dudes.

As an experienced modder, are you using the home page of the site as your main landing page?

Not a fan. The recent swathe of UI updates has hampered navigability in general. I could previously see a larger selection of hosted games as well as community news the second I reached the main page. Now, I have to click and scroll to see the same information. The banner image is completely redundant given that it sits right above a gallery of all of the hosted games. Same goes for the much larger margins on each game's landing page--more clicking, more scrolling to see the same amount of content.

As others have mentioned, these changes seem specifically oriented to users on mobile devices. The UI does work well for mobile, but I'm wondering why these changes were pushed to the desktop browser version given that the majority of users will be interacting with the site primarily via desktop. Like, none of the featured games are purely mobile games.

At the moment I have two displays with different resolutions (one at 3840x2160 and another at 1920x1080). If I open the web browser on the screen with smaller resolution, the home page looks poorly designed i.e. the tiles scale too large and the page does not fully show the initial content, as if the page were designed for a phone and hastily ported for the computer. Yet, if I open the browser on the screen with the larger resolution, the contents of the page fit, and has a more "open" vibe/feel to the page. I know Nexus has received a large amount of feedback regarding the recent changes, and I thought this trivial detail might be useful when discussing the feedback received.

I really, really don't like it, especially the new backgrounds. Take the Stardew Valley home background, which is bright blue, and the Horizon Forbidden West one, which is a bright pink-ish color for example: both go extremely hard on the eyes, especially for dark mode users like me, and degrade the overall legibility, making the page look cluttered and the mods hard to see. I can't even read some of the categories due to the contrast.

I find the new UI harder to use and harder to get any information from. The new UI manages to both be boring and messy, i desperately hope that this is all some extended April fools joke that someone on the team has pulled. Is the whole team color blind, if so that could excuse some of these UI choices. This is truly shitty design.
