New UI - New home page feedback

Recommended Posts

The way the new home page is now, I don't have much use for it. That is okay, I can use bookmarks to get to the content I need most. BUT the one thing missing that I did often use, was the Friends tab in the news feed. Not sure if that is an accurate description, but it was the part that would show when friends would upload a mod or an image, or when they would endorse a mod or an image. I used that several times a week (especially when bored) to investigate mods and images that my friends like. I found several great images and mods that way over the last several years.

Now, I don't care if that content was removed from the home page itself, but my question is... was it moved somewhere else on Nexus, or was it just removed with no replacement? I DID investigate and tried to find it, but did not have any luck.  If it does still exist somewhere else, please let me know! Thanks!

Not a fan of the new UI but at least it doesn't hurt the eyes as much anymore. Anyway another issue that is really annoying is the new search bar. The most annoying part is that now you have to click twice before you are able to type a search (1st click on 'search' 2nd click on the type bar (tried even the new keyboard feature and there it is '/' 'arrow down' 'arrow up') how about we get the option for one click before typing?

Next is that when I am already in the modlisting of a game e.g. Skyrim SE, I still search for 'all content' at default how about we get by default the relevant search options for said page. In this case mods? Mind you I am not talking about the overview page for said game, where also images, videos etc. are show(https://www.nexusmods.com/games/skyrimspecialedition), but the mod page (https://www.nexusmods.com/games/skyrimspecialedition/mods) Seriously I am not searching for images or videos from there, but for mods.

Because of all of this currently you need 3 clicks to be able to search for mods in the mod selection. With the old search it was ONE.

cheers.

You can set your search to default to only searching for mods in your Site Preferences, under default quick search.

I'm surprised to hear that you're having to click on the search bar to type. That isn't intended behaviour and not one I can replicate on my end.

Can I please get some details so I can take a look and try get this fixed for you:

  • What browser are you using?
  • Do you use any extensions? If so, have you tried disabling them and seeing if you are still having this problem.

I am using Brave, but just tested it with Edge, and on another PC, same result. I click on search (via mouse or /) then the new search window pop up, in which I have to click again on the search bar before I am able to type anything. On a phone however it works as you intended. Proofing my point that the new UI is made especially for phones and not for Desktop users...

It is nice that I can set search preferences, but I asked to have a default search for each category when you are in said category, just like you did for the game sides themself, search for collections in collections, media in media, and mods in mods, etc.

cheers.

You should be able to one-click on the search and start typing.

You can change the default quick search category to 'mods' in your site preferences.

Hi, I like the new UI.

I would like to have a default search query filter, for example exclude translations by default, this should be placed into /settings/preferences --> search preferences.

thanks!

The new UI took me some times to get used to but it is quite enjoyable, one thing i find a bit weird is that when you scroll let's say on new mods and want to see more new mods, it puts you back at the start of the new mods, so you have to scroll back down, the previous page system didn't have that problem, but it's a minor thing.

One thing i'd love to see is a page where i can see the mods i have downloaded that have available updates, you can see the updates available when you scroll through pages but there is no dedicated page that shows you all the updates you have, on games that needs regular mod updates, it gets really complicated to keep track, and i think it would add a lot to the website

Should doesn't mean it does, again, tested it on more then one PC with Brave and Edge browsers, same result, but I will tell my browser from now on that it 'should' work... But it's alright, why did I even expect that I get a productive response when I point out an issue?

cheers.

hello, i have some suggestions for the new ui to restore some functionality i personally very much used with the old version

1.  please please please restore the "sort by trending" option.  this would allow us to look at all mods that fit the search query/category and sort them by most downloaded within the timeframe (maybe it was the past week?  im not sure, but it was similar to the "top files" page).  i have been told you can sort by downloads and make the timeframe 1 week/month, but this only shows us the mods released in the timeframe.  this was very helpful because old mods would be at the top if they are still useful and lower if they were long outdated.  you could also see newer released mods side by side with the older options without the newer ones getting buried on the last page.  i believe the lack of this feature is a disservice to both mod authors and mod users

2.  fix the search window.  when i search for "lux orbis"on the skyrim se nexus for example, the window will show me patches for lux orbis but not the actual mod named exactly "lux orbis".  users now have to enter the search, click through to the mods page then sort the results to find the mod they are looking for

3.  fix replies in comment search.  before, entering a comment search would display all replies attached to comments.  now, both the replies and original comments are by themselves and lack context.  you can no longer see the full discussions

4.  this has been a problem for a while, but i would like to see an option restored to see our own comments or at least the replies.  replies used to always show up in the notifications and all comments were viewable on the forum profile.  this genuinely hurts the communication on the site

Bug? Removing a game from "my games" list messed up their alphabetic set. Example in pic.

Also, I had to remove the 19th game because I couldn't see it, while few days back I could see all 19 games on my list (there was a 4th column).

Had the same thing happen to my list recently 🤬 Apparently, now they are automatically sorted by the game index number instead. Would very much prefer to have an alphabetical sorting option back.
