I really get off to the freedom of being able to go almost any where. Having played too many first person shooters, it's wonderful NOT to have to go from point A to point B to Point C....

Mods add extra spice to the flavour, making each person's game totally unique.

I did not vote since the options did not fit me.

Loved: An open-ended and free-ranging game using medieval-type gear. Being able to mod it was just an additional plus.

Hated: Not so much "hate" since it was my primary game for more than a year!!!...the combat system and amount of animations seemed a bit weak. Oh, and the best armor for a paladin ended up being an evil-looking Daedric armor set!!!

Loved: NPC

I got hooked on this game when I was introduced to the Argonian race. I had never seen lizard people on other games (I have, albeit them being heinously evil.). I was also impressed with the personalization of the game. 8 races, and I have had my fill of each and every one of them.

Hate: This game is too hard to hate. I'm so hooked with TES that I can't possible go play any other game. I bought a 2,000$ computer for the sole purpose of preparation for the TESV. Morrowind impacted my life so much, that I am now an official slave to Bethesda.

Though I will say one thing. It's way too easy. I got used to Morrowind, and Oblivion was a cakewalk. Cheers to map markers.

  • 1 month later...

I don't like vanilla oblivion at all, barely. I love it with mods, because mods lead to all the vote options;

Great graphics

Never ending gameplay

etc.

But I do however hate, hate, hate dungeons. Don't know why, it's not scary or anything, I actually think it's cosy but still, I hate it...

I just started playing Oblivion a week ago and I've never played a game like this before (I've wanted to though). I love how I can choose to do anything I want whether to explore the forests or to ignore the Oblivion gates, those kinds of things. I love how after you finish the main quest, you can continue playing. I love the depth, the lore and the personality of the npc's.

The things I hate are first, the characters you choose from are ugly. The female has manly shoulders and manly voices when they get attacked (I changed it with Bab's mods and a soundset mod so it's perfect now). I would have loved the game more if there was more immersion such as needing to eat and sleep (again fixed it with mods) and if there were actual holidays going on and festivals and different things going on depending on the time of year.

^To the above poster,I also hate dungeons and I also freak out a little when I have to deal with enemies but that's just me.

This is an interesting topic, while Oblivion is a great game, it definitely has flaws. Anyone who played Morrowind would definitely notice that one huge flaw is how much less variety Oblivion has compared to Morrowind - I mean in terms of things like weapons and whatnot. A lot of things were definitely cut out, and that's what I personally hate the most about Oblivion. I can understand why Bethesda changed things, though - likely for time constraints above all, but they did also make Oblivion much simpler and understandable, especially for players new to The Elder Scrolls. Mods make up for, though.

What I love most are the visuals, most definitely. I'm not saying Oblivion is lacking in any other aspect, but nothing impressed me more in Oblivion than when I first stepped out of the Imperial Sewers and saw Cyrodiil. While it wasn't as wild and unique-looking as Vvardenfell, it was still absolutely gorgeous - and to me, it still is.

For those who don't care to read my ramble-y post:

LOVE: The visuals.

HATE: The lack of weapon options in comparison to Morrowind's options.
