hey.

cant save any mods for oblivion. TES CS always crashes.

tried uninstalling/reinstalling both the construction set and oblivion

uninstalled G.E.C.K (fallout 3)

short of reinstalling windows i've tried everything (im not going to do that)

no other issues with oblivion itself or any other games :wallbash: :wallbash:

I think it's a totally different game. Don't matters. Maybe you want to try saving (silly idea) in a different directory. (Example if you usually save in the "Data" folder, try saving it in some other folder). I don't really think this gonna work.

Which OS are you running; XP, Vista or 7?

When you start up the construction set, choose the esp, or the Oblivion esm, from the list to the left. At the bottom of the list you will see a button that says "Set as active". Set the file as active and the crashing should stop.

That sounds like the Vista problem I had when I first started. If you have Vista, you need to read and follow all the instructions posted on the Internet to defeat your own security system and allow you to use your own computer.

Another thing that can cause CS crashes is the Auto save feature. Just like in the game Auto save causes problems.

Go to File\Preferences\Misc tab and disable them. Just make sure to save and backup your esp regularly.

As far as I'm aware you have to save in the data directory, so the CS can find the files it needs, but I may be wrong.

I have the GECK installed and it doesn't cause any issues except to change the icons to Fallout 3 ones in the Oblivion Data directory. The icons will change depending on which Editor you used last, but it's not a problem.

I use Windows XP so I'm no help with Vista.

I get this too!- Im on vista ultimate...

OK- Try going into tamrial and editing landscape (h) then saving - should work after that (works for me) OR run CS as admin (havent tried that)

Now i get a really annoying problem- whenever i left click, rightclick double click or anything on a AI package in the AI window, my CS Crashes!! I can add packages but not edit or delete!!

REALLY ANNOYING PROBLEM!

Hope this helps- going to go re-install CS

(Might have somthing to do with Program Files being restricted on vista?)

Yes, it causes more trouble then you would like too. As you have to reinstall oblivion in order to install CS to another location (it will always follow the Oblivion directory.) Take a look at this article if you have a load of mods. (or just want all the steps explained)

Though I am a Vista sufferer, I didn't have to reinstall Oblivion or the CS when I started using the CS. I just moved the files from the old directories to the new ones. It seems like the pat answer everyone has for everything is "Reinstall! Reinstall! Reinstall!" Sorry folks, but that is not always the answer.

I moved Oblivion to C: Games\Oblivion and now the CS works for me as well as can be expected. (It is as unstable of a program as Oblivion itself.)

I was thinking about doing that! What about oblivion .exe ? Wouldnt that still want to refer to c:/Programfiles/Bethesda/Oblivion ?

------------------EDIT----------------

If i have UAC disabled, would i still have to re-install?
