Michlo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_universe Stargate Universe (abbreviated as SGU)[1][2] is an upcoming military science fiction television series, part of the Stargate franchise. The series was greenlit on August 22, 2008 and is scheduled to debut on October 2, 2009[3] as a two-hour movie and then begin regular weekly airings on Syfy in the United States in October 2009. Sky1 will air the series in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the autumn of 2009. Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper and Carl Binder serve as executive producers and writers. Stargate Universe started filming on February 18, 2009. Stargate Universe follows the adventures of a present-day, multinational exploration team on board the Ancient spaceship Destiny. Transported to Destiny in a distant corner of the universe and unable to return to Earth, members of the team are forced to remain on the vessel and fend for themselves. The announced main cast is Robert Carlyle as Dr. Nicholas Rush, Justin Louis as Colonel Everett Young, David Blue as Eli Wallace, Brian J. Smith as Lieutenant Matthew Scott, Jamil Walker Smith as Master Sergeant Ronald Greer, Alaina Huffman as Lieutenant Tamara Johansen, and Elyse Levesque as Chloe Armstrong. Dark0ne
I'm very apprehensive about this; I loved SG-1 and personally found Atlantis to be a terrible insult to a brilliant, long running franchise. It was bad enough they brought in half the crew of Farscape in seasons 9 and 10. They should have really just let SG-1 end when McGuiver left to spend more time with his family. Seasons 9 and 10 were OK, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't really SG-1.
Monolithic0117
Hmmm... good news. Hopefully it will not be a dud.
Vagrant0
Hmmm... good news. Hopefully it will not be a dud.Dunno, the description sounds a bit too much like Battlestar Galctica for my tastes. Really, the place where they started screwing up the series was once they started having all these ships and ancient technology. The fact that seasons 9 and 10 kinda left lots of plotlines wide open didn't help. You can blame it on the new cast all you want, but it was really the writing that was lacking. And instead of going back to their roots, they seem determined to keep screwing things up even more. Wasn't the whole point of the Atlantis series to have an international team of researchers, cut off from earth, in a different galaxy, supported by ancient technology, fighting off a new threat. I guess that just wasn't far enough, now they have to go to the other side of the universe (don't think the universe has corners, or atleast not as far as the light horizon has managed to go). So really, it's like Atlantis, but now in a smaller place (even though they used like what, 5% of that city) and are stuck even further away from home. I shudder to think about what sort of enemy threat will be used, even there they've already covered most the possible bases.
dragonpen61
Could possibly go either way to greatness or the pits. Yet it also could crawl along in the middle until it quietly dies out. I hope that the series is made great despite that in many ways it sounds like a repeat of Star Trek Voyager. Hoping for the best but fearing the worst! Hoping for the best but fearing the worst! thats the first thing what I thoguht  I get the feeling its going toi be a dud but will give alook and see what its like Sg1 was good favorite seaons was 1,2 and 9,10(mainly as to some degree it went back to its roots on trying to find techolgy but they cant go back from season 7 and 8 when it introduced the ships) but also gave the more win, lose situation Atlantis was ok wasent keen on it to much(I loved half the chacters and disliked the othe rhalf of chacters)But it jsut slowly got boring after season 1 as the wraith dident ahve much added to them but stargate really should of sjut ended by now and more the odd short film around it
LHammonds
Star Trek Voyager was also the 1st thing that came to my mind. I seriously doubt it will become some kind of cult hit but I do like the idea of that particular universe (SG1 Series) getting explored more. Hmmm...made me think about Stargate Worlds game...just checked, still not released.
