Iv000
Ubuntu is strange .-. But kinda nice. Needs more exploring to do. I forgot all my passwords again. Thank god for password managers.
ddmlink
As a Windows user my entire life, I enjoy playing around with Linux. Especially the desktop effects... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRAcskPNof4
Iv000
Fancy yeah but useless :PI'm kinda trying to figure out all the basic stuff about Ubuntu. I wanted to start Steam over it's .exe and forgot that I can't, then I headed over to a app center thing (???) and installed it from there and forgot my password. It's confusing at first, and seems slow too...though there are tons of software updates waiting too, and I guess when I learn it it will get faster. I'm going to sleep then, night all.
Thor.
Install wine, your life will be allot easier, especially with windows based games. http://www.winehq.org/download/ubuntu
ddmlink
It isn't useless, it just depends on what you are using it for. If you want to run Windows games then you'll have to use WINE or one of its variations like PlayOnLinux or Crossover.Oblivion actually runs pretty nicely under WINE after you manually include every D3D9 dll file. x_xIt's what I did to get around having an inky-black hero. I still haven't tried Skyrim. My HD 4870 can run Skyrim fine on Windows, but on Linux I can't even get past "New Game." I guess it was the drivers. So I switched to nVidia as they supposedly have better drivers, but I haven't tried Skyrim yet. Personally, though, I am very interested in ReactOS and its development as well. It's getting there... http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html Edited January 25, 2013 by ddmlink
Werne
If you want to run Windows games then you'll have to use WINE or one of its variations like PlayOnLinux or Crossover. You don't have to use WINE if you have Windows installed along Ubuntu, I set it up that way for a friend of mine, thought about setting it up for myself too but my HDD is already to small, if I get Ubuntu too it would be even smaller. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/laugh.gif Anyway, if you have both, you can choose your OS when starting up your computer, choose Windows an you got Windows, choose Ubuntu and you got Ubuntu. And both work just fine. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/yes.gif Edited January 25, 2013 by Werne
