Vindekarr Posted March 30, 2013 Share Posted March 30, 2013 So at work today, I received an absolutely bonkers request. I work at a tuning shop, we modify cars. Well, I was asked by a man, not to make his existing engine more powerful, but to add a whole second one. Two engines, one engine bay. It's probably going to take weeks to finish, but he's got plans, this guy, and right now, I think we might, just might, do it. The car is a Mazda RX-7, a small Japanese sports car from the 1980s and 1990s. The project hinges on the fact that the RX-7 has what's called a rotary engine, instead of pistons, it has triangular plates, that as they rotate, take fuel, compress it, and then form a firing chamber and detonate the fuel. The beauty of the Rotary is it's A small and B you only need 1-2 plates(rotors) to produce a good amount of power. Even better, if you dissect a rotary, each rotor chamber is essentially it's own tiny engine, and that's this guy's deranged master plan, to add extra rotor-chambers. We'll need to strip out the turbochargers, add a bunch of extra cooling, rewire the engine, and source two more rotors, but hell, if it works, it'll be a work of mad genius!
