 I feel sorry for you Werne, you're luck never stops surprising me

Also how would you like a Magnetic field in your pc, testing space technology ground level before they use it in space.

They can now recreate a magnetic field in small scale, the trick is to use it for space travel, because the one thing that harms us the most is radiation.

Mimicking earth in the lab.

Hmm. I'm just thinking about the art direction of weapons in video games (fantasy, to be specific). Why do developers design weapons that would be totally ineffective in a real combat situation? An absolutely massive sword decorated with skulls with a handle fashioned in the shape of a spine is not practical. Is that so hard to understand?

Realistic weapons can look cool, too.

It's a cultural theme. In Western fantasy culture we normally gravitate to something fairly realistic or at the very least practicable. On the other hand Japanese fantasy culture tends to be less bounded by realism-they tend to have much more OTT styling, it's just a cultural thing-and the world would be boring without both.

I like this guys idea for warp drive, certainly would solve the particle problem from destroying solar systems, sense the magnetic field would block them from exiting the warp field.

this is just a step closer to reality.

It's not just in Japanese games though. The Daedric weapons in Skyrim, for instance, are designed pretty stupidly. Same goes for some Dragon Age weapons.

Games that try to be realistic (like The Witcher, Chivalry, etc.) are fine though. I really like those designs. I guess I just like practicality over flashiness.
