So, I've been working on a random sword for the last few hours, and I was wondering what you guys think of the texture so far...

http://puu.sh/5zRxj.jpg

NOTE: The image has degraded quality; the leather isn't really that colour.

I need to do some more work on the leather strips at the top, but other than that I can't see what to improve. So, I need fresh eyes to criticise so I can improvise! :D

BTW, this is what it looks like on the model...

Again, the image has degraded quality, and the leather is not the right colour (here). Also, yeah, the model is very basic, but I like simplicity so yeah.

I like it, but personally, I don't like the appearance of the pommel. It just seems like the rest of the sword was more meticulously done, and the pommel is just a flat little disc slapped on it.

Hmm, yes, true. I'll see if I can add some more depth to it somehow. Thanks for the tip. :)

If I might make a suggestion, you could have an engraved pattern in it. That way, you can have it seem more interesting without having to fidget with the shape. With a good pattern and a nice normal map, it'd probably be a decent idea.

Well, a guy grabbed my ass today while I was in the store, thinking that I was a woman. So he had a bit of a shock when I turned around and he realized that "the girl" has a beard and an "I can tear you apart right now" look. Lucky for him, I wasn't even mad, and the "What the f***?" expression on the guy's face when I turned around was just too freakin' hilarious.

Conclusion: Being a guy, having long hair let down and having a nice ass, makes for some amusing situations.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I wasn't really sure how I could go about the pattern though, so I ended up trying a simple circle and seeing how that went. It looks alright, but the whiteness stands out from a distance, so I might get rid of it.

Here, I'll show you.

Also, this is what I've done with the blade so far. There is something missing that I can't put my finger on... but it just looks incomplete. I think the edge and the fuller are too pronounced, but I'm unsure how I could go about fixing it.

It is downscaled - the full size one has a lot more detail.

And do you think I went overboard with the scratches?
