I can't play as small characters for some reason. I like being tall, so yeah, Nords. I had an Altmer character once, but I think I deleted her because I prefer being a warrior to a mage. But yeah, I mostly play as a Nord male, because that's closest to what I am in real life (except for Imperials, but yeah).

Wylandriah is awesome.

I tried to be a warrior Nord once, it was awful, too much stabbing with too little immolation. To quote Marcurio - "Why settle for just stabbing your foes when you can roast them alive in a gout of arcane fire?" :D

And yeah, Wylandriah is awesome, she's by far my favorite court wizard.

I want to play as a spellsword character. I did once, but I stopped for some reason. I might have to get Action Combat first so that I can parry by timing attacks well.

EDIT: I read lots of pages from old posts in this thread... good times.

EDIT 2: I also re-read that saucy chapter in the story I wrote all those months ago. Far out, it's a little strange knowing that I could write so much innuendo at once. It's also strange reading all this horny stuff and then coming to the realisation that I wrote that.

I never did end up finishing that story, either. Wonder why...

EDIT 3: It's 4am, heh heh heh heh heh! I am insane.

Also, I am bored. Someone draw me a sword or something so I can model it.

Oh, and that reminds me! Here is another sword I made earlier this week:

I was super slack and didn't even bother to UV unwrap it, so I just put a blank grey texture on it and then used a very reflective cubemap to make it pretty. :)

(Except Skyrim cubemapping is dumb so it didn't actually turn out very nice.)

But yeah, someone draw me a weapon and then I shall make it. :D

I die in two hits too, though it's more because my health is crazy low since I spend almost all points for magicka.

Works well enough when you explode enemy heads with fireballs, though. :P

And I took it upon myself to accept your challenge:

Aha! The resemblance is there but I think I need to ding it up a bit. :P

Internet crapped out on me yesterday so I didn't write this...

I want to play as a spellsword character.

I once did and from what I can tell, the best way to go about it is to be an alteration-based mage. I didn't wear any armor and relied on armor-boosting spells instead, better mobility and allowed me to wreak more havok with destruction spells since costs go down. The key is to dish out as much damage as possible using the strongest offensive spells available before the enemy comes close enough for you to chop him up with the blade. Poisons help too.

If you're good in alteration and have mods like Better Magic, you'll be able to have equal protection by using stoneskin without armor as you would with tempered armor, and your spells would be cheaper. By the way, do spell cost go up when you wear armor in the base game? The last time I played stock Skyrim was never so I got no idea.

Also, by far my favorite build was a Breton shieldmage using primarily alteration and destruction. Cast stoneskin, bunker down behind a shield and cast fireballs. Worked surprisingly well.

Since Bretons resist 25% of magic by default and can absorb 50% of spells with their racial power, coupling that with alteration perks like magic resistance and atronach as well as taking the atronach stone made enemy mages and dragons a joke. I'd absorb or resist everything they cast at me allowing me to fire even more spells down range at them and take half damage if I can't absorb it. Against physical attacks, I'd use the shield and skin spells so I had a high armor rating and mobility and could take quite a beating while dishing out AOE spells.

Gotta say, I miss that character.

EDIT: Thread's dead, Jim.

The thread isn't dead, but f*cking Skyrim is. Can't even load a savegame without it crashing any more.

EDIT: Looks like the ol' coc qasmoke trick still works, so at least I can still play.

Anyway, here was the sword I was trying to test when I ran into Skyrim's stubborn idiocy:

EDIT 2: And now Dragon Age is being an arsehole! I can't get to Skyhold because the cutscene that is supposed to play instead just shows a white screen and then does nothing.

EDIT 3: Figured it out - had to remake the merged patch without any mods and then it worked.

Seems like I ain't the only one with dead Skyrim. I get flashing textures and exploding meshes though, starts mildly at first and gets progressively worse until DirectX or the game itself crashes. I'm starting to hate Bethesda again.

I had to stop playing Skyrim because it got so laggy (I probably had too many mods, I tried to limit myself).
And I have a serious issue with making a million different characters (because I realize I am not satisfied with something) and never playing through the mods I want to (or even more than a few hours of the normal game).
