I love OBSE :) Use it every time I play, can't deal without it! lol  It adds so much more to the game :) All my favourite immersion mods use it, so I gotta have it

I'm Leary of it for no good reason, but allot of awesome mods require it. so once I get SI and the other plug-ins I'll get it so I can get some of those really cool looking mods.

But since I seem to be one of the few representatives of the non-OBSE community, I'll go in to more detail in why I don't like OBSE. Simply put, I have an irrational fear of third party programs. Now I know all mods are third party but OBSE just sounds more third partyish and makes my gut go "NO! bad! will kill commuter!" So I try to avoid it, despite the fact that it would improve my gaming exuberance.

So if the majority of the non-OBSE community are like me, you should come to the conclusion that we are stupid Neanderthals, and you should make OBSE mods because they are better.

I have installed OBSE, for certain mods to run, and use it all the time to launch Oblivion. It was fairly simple. Just download the compressed file, extract to temp folder, drag four files (one is the setup file, one is the loader, and two .dll's) to 'Oblivion/Data', click on the setup icon in the Data folder to install, then create a shortcut on my destop to the loader file in 'Oblivion/Data', which I click on to launch the game.

I felt the same way when I started out on modding Oblivion, but so far I have it running all the time and have no problems with it. It's good to be cautious when experimenting with mods rather than rushing in and activate a bunch all at once. Now, that would be a really good way to crash your game. :pinch:

Thanks for the explanation. That is indeed one of the reasons people don't use it, being afraid that it could hurt their pc.

There is nothing wrong about that, there are a sufficient number of troublesome programs around...

Although that isn't really the case. Actually, OBSE isn't replacing the launcher... it is more like a plugin.

Next to that OBSE is widely used on the supportive site and community, bethesda condones it as well. That sounds simple, but anything that bethesda wouldn't is removed from the web in 1 week at the large communities. (Smaller may keep it, but smaller communities are less save as well...) But as I said, I do fully understand and if you don't want to use it...we won't stop you :).

No, just in general. Empires Glory might get a plugin, but it will not fully be fully OBSE - dependable. We've evaded it for now, so it would've waisted our time if we had to redo all scripts again :).

Any to who has voted until now, thanks again.

I wonder if the tide will turn now one has said he's doesn't use it.
