I was running, crying through the downtown street. Full of blood my hands were in. I turned right and saw a police chopper fly. Hearing the voices scream, and myself cry, I felt like I started to die.

  • 1 month later...

I haven't written anything for a few years but I will post some of my older poems until I am inspired to write something new. This I wrote about 2 1/2 years ago about leaving my hometown.

What it is like to run away from what shapes you

This form I have become

the whole of a city upon my back

to strain my shoulders, hunch my back to a new level

and I wear high heels and balance on my tip toes

to stand tall

against the buildings

the many faces with beady, weary little eyes never leaving

pricking my skin

smushing so it

stays pale

their hot heat anger singes my hair curly in flames

Blue eyes never bluer from years of living in the sky asking why

The twinkle from staring at the stars

wishing I could be

Anywhere but here

Anyone

but me

I didn't ask for it

Any of it

Ever

Yet it all came again and again in neat little rows, neat little parallels

Each waiting turn, to take another stab at me

Peel another layer off

Until I could do nothing, finally

Standing naked and exposed

on my tip toes

Against the city that never ceased pressing

I wave my pale little hand

known by the air here as both a little girl and a little woman hand

Au revoir, Duluth.... and all of my memories in you

be kept safe in your prison cell

Thank you very much! :) I have more, but I want to see at least five new things released before I put anything else out. I don't want to be a hog ;) Besides, there hasn't been anything here for about a month and I love this thread. Come on, people, get that creativity juice flowin
