LFact
Only some chests are safe. Some example:- Chest in the house you bought- Sack with opened top(usually 5 grains inside) For more information, read UESP Wiki article.
ThePearl
As he/she/it (sorry, assuming is bad) said ^ Pretty much all other chests disappear when the game "respawns" after about 3 in-game days. I usually save before I put anything in anywhere.. I got SO pissed of when I put stuff in the arch-mage room and I finally got it all organized but then after a few days.. Gone... Be careful where you put your stuff! EDIT: Actually there is a mod to change this, give me a min and I'll find it for you Here we go http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View...ail&id=3659
SavageArtistry
As he said ^ Be prepared for a scathing correction on that one. LMAO.

David Brasher
If you are a bit of a modder, you can make the chests that are important to you so that they don't respawn. Containers have a "Respawns" box which can be checked or unchecked. This will change all instances of that container in the whole gameworld, so it is best used on chests that you rename with a unique form ID so that you are only changing that one chest. Alternately, you could find a chest which already does not respawn such as ChestClutterLower01Empty and place it in your house or wherever you want it. Themisive
I totally agree, the last method is one I use, usually be using a unique ID. If it is already set to re-spawn, no matter, just uncheck the box (it's just below the ID box and is the top one of the two boxes on the right), and delete any items already there. You can do this for any boxes and crates as well, also you'll find it especially valuable for chests. In addition - and I know this not what you asked - but you may find it helpful to make ANY doors nave a unique ID as well, this applies for both internal and external doors. Re-psawning isn't a factor here bu it IS crucial to linking doors via teleport. For instance you need TWO doors to go from one room to another, not one, unless you have an animated door, you may find that in the CS Wiki, but I haven't found it yet!. For instance, in a mod I'm currently doing, I need 2 doors, one to place OUTSIDE a castle tower, and another to place inside the tower. You'll find you need 2 doors so that you can ser teleport markers, since most doors do not open, so unless you have animated doors which do open, then you will find you need two doors. Anyway, happy modding and good luck with your project - relax, things SEEM complex. but when y9ou get used to Construction Set it gets a bit clearer.
