What version of NMM are you using? Have you allowed NMM in your firewall?

Posted

I'm using version 0.45.7 and no it is not being blocked by my firewall. I never had a problem with NMM before then ever since before I left for 2 months I haven't been able to login. There was an issue with NMM a while back I know (something about the client was spamming their servers so they had to shut it down) but I'm pretty sure that's all fixed now.

I checked my firewall and explicitly set it to allow NMM now but it still doesn't work.

You need to update to the latest version. 0.45.7 is no longer supported.

I am also having issues with logging in. I was able to log in when I first updated to 0.49.0 and not since. I thought it was just a server change that I needed to update for so I updated to 0.49.1 and still no dice. Also explicitly added NMM to my firewall exceptions list (a step I never needed before) with no results.

Ok I updated to 0.49.1 and now it will log me in. I hadn't realized that it wouldn't login just because the version number was different. That's not usually the case for most software...Actually I didn't even know there was a new version because it wasn't logging in...and then telling me there was a new version :)

Thanks

Here is an interesting thing I ran into. While I was installing a FO3 mod from a file using NMM. I was NOT online with NMM. I had previously downloaded the file manually. I had the 'NMM has encountered a problem and will close' message - And closed the program - then reopened - It seemed to be working fine - and in fact, the mod showed as installed and (later after resolving the not going on line problem) worked in the game.

But when I tried to go online with NMM - it just didn't go - the MS 'waiting for something to complete' circle just stayed on. After waiting a reasonable time, I attempted to close the program - and it refused to close - I finally closed it using task manager. - I then tried restarting NMM & going online several times with no success. Finally, I rebooted the computer and I was able to get online with NMM again.

This has happened to me exactly once - so It is not a trend yet. But if you cannot get NMM to go online one thing you may try is rebooting.

Another - if you cannot go online with NMM - and then find you cannot open anything online ( such as a browser) You may also try rebooting your modem & router - to do this, unplug them wait a full ten seconds or more, and plug them back in.

Note: If you cannot open your browser, that is NOT an NMM problem. As NMM relies on being able to access the internet just as your browser does. Then start looking for internet connection problems.

If you CAN open your browser, but not NMM, then look through this forum for possible answers.

I got the this error message, "cannot reach the Nexus metadata server" after nmm stops responding for several minutes I get this message: "timeout, cannot reach the nexus login server". I have been able to download manually after fussing with the nexus site pages. Other websites work fine.

I've also been having issues loading pages from nexusmods/newvegas, including being kicked from the page I was trying to load to the main nexusmods page.

I didn't come to the NMM thread about not being able to login through the NMM and post specific details about my problem because I can't use my browser to log in to the NMM site.

I'm able to log in right now, but rebooting the computer or program didn't do anything last time because I reboot at least daily.

This is not a cure all - just another suggestion to try. Not everyone reboots on a regular basis.
