Story after Skyrim?

I was thinking, what would happen to Tamriel regardless of how the civil war goes?

When the moot meets to decide a new high king, the dragonborn recommends Balgruuf and in the surprise of everyone, Balgruuf is made high king. Ulfric disappears...

Balgruuf creates a treaty with the empire favorable to Skyrim. Maybe it could be similar to how Hammerfell was integrated into the Empire. Skyrim would be apart of the empire, but more like an ally to the empire, thus is excluded from the white-gold concordat.

With Skyrim unified, peace and prosperity blooms under Balgruuf's wise and careful leadership. The stormcloak army and former Ulfric supporters, having satisfied with the new treaty, endorses Balgruuf. Skyrim is strong with the militarization that the war brought to the region. The Aldmeri Dominion doesn't want another stalemate like Hammerfell and it saw what damage the Dragonborn and stormcloaks did to Thalmor operations in Skyrim, and are now too timid to attack Skyrim.

Many former Stormcloak soldiers go to Hammerfell on "unofficial" business to further help against the resistance against the Aldmeri Dominion.

Happy ending maybe?

Well, for one, there is a running animosity between Hammerfell and Skyrim that goes back almost 2000 years. It's unlikely that any Stormcloaks would travel to Hammerfell to assist against the Dominion, or that the Redguard would even accept them if they did.

The Dragonborn is also not likely to be involved. Like Miraak before him, he's probably going to 'vanish' and be trapped in Apocryphia for Anu knows how long.

It's also unlikely that the Dominion was ever going to go straight for Skyrim, because it's insignificant on a cosmic scale. The tThalmor are playing the cosmic game, and control of the hub of the wheel (Cyrodiil) is far more important than some upstart tundra populated by savages. The extinction of man is one step, but there are far easier ways to do that than through warfare.

In all likelyhood... Post-Skyrim...

Ulfric and Tullius both die in the Civil War, forcing the Empire to deploy troops to deal with the Stormcloaks (remember, there's not actually a Legion in Skyrim, just some commanders recruiting troops locally. The real Legions are down on the Dominion border). With such a diversion, the Empire has to delay its invasion of the Dominion, giving the Thalmor breathing room to further their plans.

The Dominion will either consolidate its hold over Balfiera and the Adamantine Tower, or re-invade Hammerfell.

At the same time, the Empire, caught in the strife in Skyrim and looking to regain its footing, will either resort to subterfuge to try and incite rebellion in Elsweyr and Valenwood, or look for allies elsewhere. Titularly Morrowind is still an Imperial province, but weak, and the Redguard are still bitter (though looking for assistance there isn't out of the question) so the Empire would likely try to open diplomacy with the Argonians in Blackmarsh.

At the end of the day, though... No, not happy ending. This is the Arena, there are no happy endings, only constant struggle and change!

Master akin Master! Mother is miasma to Destroyer!

Nah, the moot actually chooses the dragonborn considering how he helps X wins the civil war, kills alduin, thane of the 6 holds, listener of the dark brotherhood, archmage of winterhold, guildmaster of the thieves guild, leader of the blades, killer of First Dragonborn, champion of all the daedras, hero of the vampire war.

Then TESVI will be like the total war series where you manage an entire Skyrim, planning strategies for you army, balancing economy, conquering tamriel, play politics while all the while expoloring the whole of tamriel's cave and dungeons.

IT will be called: THE ELDER SCROLLS 6: TAMRIEL: TOTAL WAR

My story after Skyrim ... (Imperial or Stormcloack side) ... PART ONE.

The exiled Jarl Laila Law-Giver hires the Nightingales ... who expose Maven Black-Briar as the former

and current mastermind behind most of the crimes across Skyrim.

As the word of her crimes spread across Skyrim the Jarls convene and decide to remove her from office.

Laila Law-Giver is restored as Jarl once again.

Maven is sentenced and is sold into slavery to a cruel Khajit master who assigns her as a play thing to his troops in the

hot desert sands of Elsweyer.

Her sons are thrown into prison with a life long sentence and her home is burnt to the ground.

Every vestige of her name is erased.

Her daughter leaves Riften and joins the College of Winterhold and now calls herself Ingun Fair-Flower,

where she becomes one of the greatest Alchemists ever known.

I'd envisioned it a little differently.

(As the hero is usually depicted as male, all references to the Dragonborn will be masculine)

As the Dragonborn is the rightful heir to the Imperial Throne, he uses the Thu'um to light the Dragonfires in the Temple of the One, and takes the throne after Titus Mede's assassination at the hands of the Dark Brotherhood, and the 5th Era begins. The new Emperor denounces the White-Gold Concordat and takes the fight to the Dominion. Wielding the mighty power of the Voice, he crushes the Thalmor once and for all, allowing the more supportive citizens of Summerset Isle to choose a new, empire-friendly leader.

Meanwhile, over in Solstheim, Neloth discovers the source of the Ash Spawn, and stamps them out once and for all. Using ancient and powerful Telvanni magics, he enshrouds the island in a mystic barrier that keeps the rest of Red Mountain's aftereffects from causing any further harm. As a sign of appreciation, Councilor Arano and Councilor Morvayn call a meeting of House Telvanni, House Redoran, and - with extreme effort - the Skaal, and together they section the island off into three districts - one for each Great House, with the Skaal only really present to tell the Dunmer where NOT to step.

Back in Skyrim, the Dawnguard has all but eradicated the Volkihar clan. Serana, for her efforts to stop Harkon's plans, is allowed to keep Castle Volkihar, but only after signing a peace treaty with Isran and the Dawnguard. The vampire menace is finally over.

But a new threat looms over Tamriel. Hermaeus Mora, enraged that his so-called "new champion" has slain Miraak and then vanished from Apocrypha, watches, waiting, searching through his tomes of forgotten and forbidden knowledge to find a new way through the barrier between Mundus and Oblivion, to claim the soul of the Dragonborn once and for all...

...continued in The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocrypha.

The way Skyrim progresses re: canon confuses me.

The emperor (or a double) must be dead, OK.

But the civil war? How will that be reconciled re: canon?

And Hermaeous Mora will have corrupted the Dragonborn? Seems to me the Dragonborn belongs to Akatosh.

Possibly a sub-plot for the next ES game will be reconciling the soul of the Dragonborn?
