Anyone playing skyrim without ENBs ?

No disrespect intended to Mr. Vorontsov; his hard work has benefited hundreds of thousands of gamers, and I respect the hell out of that.

But I hate ENB. I mean, I don't hate the concept itself I suppose - making Skyrim look prettier is a goal countless modders on the internet go for, after all. But it's the level of saturation this one particular style of visual "enhancement" has reached that bothers me. It's to the point where there's no point looking at texture overhaul mods anymore, because the screenshots are marred by some "screenarcher's" extremely subjective opinion on visual changes. Then there's the sheer number of presets clogging the Nexus, all of which are either too overexposed or too colourful or have ten dozen bells and whistles that make for a fantastic screenshot, but really don't fit well with actual gameplay. And that's what I bought Skyrim for. To play, not unmovingly stare at.

Then there's the performance hit you're guaranteed to take with a post-processor. In my opinion, all the worthwhile effects of ENB can be achieved at a fraction of the performance hit with more conventional mods that work within the game engine, rather than through post-processing. I used to have a whole list of mods i used to do this, but lately I find I'm most happy with just Realistic Lighting Overhaul, including its weather modules. Throw in Realistic Water Two and more assorted 2K texture mods than I care to count, and I'm more than content with my buttery smooth gameplay experience. If I want DoF for a playthrough - which I occasionally do - I'll install Dynavision.

Me. I play without ENBs. I do use SweetFX as it has very little performance hit, to make Skyrim not look so grey.

I prefer ELFX over RLO though, as opposed to Hyacanthus. It just looks, better. I use ELFX+Climates of Tamriel, which had a better results as opposed to RLO and it's weather IMO.

Absolutely agree with Hyacathusarullistad

I tried many enb's... still trying out, but can't really use them because after using for a while the world seems cartoonishly colorful! :P

also with the over-saturation, i lose the detailed contours of streets, building rooftops... i donno... maybe its perceptional.

I am using realistic water 2 with W.A.T.E.R, static mesh improvements, enhanced distant terrain, etc.
