Has anyone thought about what the world of Oblivion will be like, i was thinking it could be like a parallel universe of Cyrodill with dead trees, ash, smoke and fire everywhere. Besthesda have kept very quiet about this "hell" in the game. What do you think it will be like?

The people playtesting the game were asked not to walk into any portals as i guess there will be a surprize waiting for us inside.

I would imagine something rather more abstract. Think like the hell in Devil May Cry 3. That place had a kind of twisted divine feel to it, with light everywhere, twisting angles and such. I don't think they'd do a parallel universe Cyrodiil as they have stated the maps will be randomly generated inside Oblivion, so that would make it impossible.

As you approach an Oblivion Gate the sky turns into a very sinister "red planet" type colour and setting, very misty. It gives it a very foreboding feeling. As for Oblivion itself I cannot say.

I think you'll step into Oblivion and be welcomed by 5 dremora who pull their faces off to reveal that they are actually BJORK then the whole place will turn to marmite and you'll have to swim through tunnels of rotting fish to get around..while being followed by fargoth wearing a tutu and singing songs about his ring in the style of bjork..

I think it would be cool if each portal opened into a different plane of Oblivion. Each plane could be the dominion of a different daedric prince. The plane of Molag Bal might be a place of fire, smoke, and violence. The plane of Sheogorath would be a place of madness where even normal natural laws don't apply. Other planes might seem relatively normal... at first.

I'm hoping to see some daedric architecture beyond the red gates too. Have you noticed that we haven't seen any any in the released screenshots?

With how much it's stressed that the Daedra represent change, be it for better or for worse (remember, Daedra have helped charachters of unquestionably good alignment before, with ultimately positive results), shouldn't we be thinking less along the lines of lawful evil (IE, Hell in the Judeo-Christian sense), and more towards chaotic neutral?

Personally, I'd presume it's similar to Limbo in the Planescape universe.

I Agree with Marxist, and knowing the daedra and how self serving they can be, maby telling good from evil will be trickier than it seems...

But red skies also seems a given, thingking back to the red mountain and its howling winds.

I'm looking at a daedric ruin and wondering how much worse it could be...all purple.

I think everyone must bear in mind that Daedra are not demons in the purely evil sense. They are creatures from another dimension who do not seem to hold the world of Tamriel in any regard other than being a gigantic playground.
