GandhisLunchbox
I'm really in for immersion and I always have to have a backstory which I use to make choices and decide how my characters act.Name: smellyfingers (no good with names) She started off living in the Imperial City with her mother and father. Her mother went outside of the city walls on the road and came across what seemed to be an injured woman. Then out of nowhere a group of bandits came and kidnapped her. One guard caught site of this and reported it to all the guards. When her father found out he hung himself and written on a note it told smellyfingers to travel to Skyrim. At the border she was captured (oh no) and taken to Helgen. Blahdy blahdy blah she followed the Stormcloaks and was asked to join the rebels. She had a good knowledge of the two sides and using her intelligence knew that helping the Stormcloaks would bring no good to Skyrim. After the civil war she chose to live in the wild. She goes around Skyrim murdering bandits for what they had done in Cyrodiil.
Hyacathusarullistad
My favourite roleplay experience has to be my vigilante archer build, which was two playthroughs ago now (lost the one between now and then to the Civil War Overhaul). It was based on Oliver Queen, from the CW's Arrow (ie the greatest show on North American television, bar none). I had an insane amount of fun with this build until I eventually had to give up on it (also because of the Civil War Overhaul). He was a 30 year old Nord named Olav Hall, who was a very young child when his wealthy family travelled from their home in Skyrim to the Imperial City. While they were there the city was sacked by the Thalmor; his parents were killed, and he was taken prisoner and held captive at a hidden prison settlement somewhere on the Summerset Isles. Here he was raised by his fellow prisoners, primarily by a Bosmer dissident from Valenwood and his Imperial wife, an alchemist originally from Bruma. The couple protected him from the Thalmor guards, and each taught him a great deal about their respective arts. He excelled most notably in archery, matching his "father's" skills by the time he was 14. But before his 16th birthday, his surrogate parents were killed in an attempted prisoner revolt. He fled the camp in the midst of the chaos alongside a handful of other prisoners, including a member of the Khajiit Renrijra Krin. Hungry for revenge against the Thalmor, Olav would have gotten himself killed had it not been for the cat's intervention. He taught him the importance of patience and silence, and over the course of five years tempered his rage and hate into finely tuned weapons even more deadly than his bow. Shortly after he turned 21 the escapees attacked the colony and freed the other prisoners, turning the tables on the Thalmor guards. He spent another five years there battling the Altmer guards, who shed the title of Thalmor, turned against their gods, and descended into vampirism in their selfish, prideful efforts to regain control of the island. When the Dominion learned of what was happening they sent a force of Justicars to cleanse the island. By the final year of the cleanse all sides were all but spent, and the Dominion forces agreed to a temporary truce with the once-prisoners in order to put down the greater threat of vampiric blasphemy. They of course later turned on their new allies and tried to keep word of the colony's existence from spreading to Tamriel, and they were mostly successful - so far as he knows, Olav is the only survivor of the island. He has now made the long journey north to his native Skyrim, only to discover as much chaos and fear as he witnessed on the island - civil war, a lingering Thalmor presence, vampires stalking the cities at night, and the return of the dragons. With no one else stepping up to make Skyrim whole again, he chooses to don his hood once again to protect the people of his homeland. I've actually got a full, proper character build I'm working on based on this playthrough, which I hope to eventually post to the collection of builds at the Skyrim Blog. deRusett
My Characters name is George, he's an Imperial. born to a poor hunting/farming family he comes to skyrim to try his luck on his own after his grandfather passes on, a once great warrior leaves George an Ebony bow and dagger ( console command given in helgan dungeon, where I presume goods taken from a prisoner were put), to counter act this obvious game starting buff, George can't read, I have "Sometimes pick up books" mod installed so I pickup vs read books, this also limits quests based on reading notes initially, though I let george start by reading 1 Book per level # after level 10 (level10 can read 10 books/notes, level 11, 11 more, and so on) this means I can't go reading skill books to get the early boost, nor can I do bounty hunting deliberately, I can ask, and if map is updated know where to go. Being a Hunter/farmer George first does just that collecting animal pelts, farming, and trying his luck at mining (HunterBorn and trade and barter installed to give value to hunting) this develops his bow skills, and sneak skills and one hand skills as he levels through level 5 he does get reasonably wealthy since leveling is actually pretty slow without a lot of combat, so he sells a lot of pelts, leather, meat. This was how I started, and had planned, George is level 56 now, but has only read maybe 5 skill books maybe 50 other books, reading is pretty low on his priority list, only does it if he comes back into town too late for the shops, but to early for bed, George is still a sneaky bowman but has spent a lot of time learning to smith, he's discovered the mages college and has a good collection and grasp of destruction magic and quite the charmer with his speech craft from negotiating so many sales of pelts in his youth he aspires to be a warrior mage playing with heavy and light armor depending on if he is out with the sword trying to set ablaze in dungeons, or sneak through the wilderness sniping from a distance at forts, giant camps, and collecting pelts. I've put probably 100 hours into George now I really am liking this playing with a bow, I've always been a one handed sword mage with heavy armor just run in swinging and blasting no time to sneak I've got stuff to kill, and riches to find. forcing myself early game to not go into dungeons and having a powerful bow and dagger both good sneak weapons I pretty much lived crouched and practicing long distance shots, I suspect George is going to live on for a long time more, since at level 56, I have yet to actually complete anything significant in terms of quests, just killed a redicilous amount of giants and mamoths for pelts and no dungeon treasure. AlduinWorldEater
Here's my current character, Sigurd Tullius. The bastard half-brother of the Imperial General Tullius, Sigurd grew up in Evermor under the teachings of his Nordic mother. He knew of his half-brother's existence, but his mother refused to allow any contact, calling the general a "spineless elf-lover" for supporting the terms of the White-Gold Concordat. As such, he grew up with a poor image of the Legion. When his mother was arrested by Thalmor Justiciars for openly worshipping Talos, he left his home in High Rock and traveled Tamriel, making a living as a sellsword to slowly work his way towards Skyrim. All he knows is blood and steel, and though he's heard many a clinking of coin, he always used his pay to move ever closer to his ultimate goal - joining the Stormcloak army, and striking down his half-brother with his own blade. CthulhuCthulhu
My current character is Cthulhu Ebonblade A Nord legionnaire who participated in the Great War. During the Great War Cthulhu's parents were slaughtered by the Thalmor in the midst of the Battle of the Red Ring. Cthulhu was enraged by the Thalmor's act and planned to avenge his beloved parents. He knowing that he was next to be slayed by the Thalmor made a journey to Skyrim. When he, arrived chaos was everywhere, the Civil War, the return of the Dragons much like in Cyrodiil. This however won't stop Cthulhu...... Edited May 18, 2014 by CthulhuCthulhu
