kvnchrist
Political correctness is the insane shackles that our society has agreed to endure in order to absolve us of our intransigence. It is the modern day version of the Emperors new clothes, and possibly the crux of the matter with the difficulties that the country has with directly dealing with the fact that we have a black president and he is taking the country outside the box most of the citizens are comfortable with.We are so pleased to paint as plastic smile on our faces and cautiously tip toe around each other with our hidden knives at the ready while we fraudulently rub shoulders with people we realty want to beat the crap out of.Can our society do anything more than continue on life support with the continued implementation of this fake world or will it explode as it did in the 60's. Does society progress like a slowly flowing stream or does it correct itself like the violent shifting of the plates that create Earthquakes? TheMastersSon
Our current twice-elected president as far as we know isn't doing anything that wasn't in his campaign platform. So the only box he's taking our country outside of is the one inside your own head. In fact imo it's pathetic how you assume his race has something to do with anything other than your own racism. Polls (not to mention the last two elections) indicate race isn't an issue for most Americans. As for your point, if you ever find yourself wanting to beat the crap out of anyone, first simply turn off whatever propaganda machine is feeding you the orchestrated hatred (typically Fox News, Rush Limbaugh etc), and if that doesn't work please seek out a mental health professional. The "my life sucks and it's all <somebody else>'s fault" pit is bottomless.

HeyYou
Obama is percieved as a weak president, who has no teeth. He has been called out as a liar, ineffective, and is seen the world over as pretty much a joke. His red lines are meaningless. His threats are empty. His race is irrelevant , it is his actions that folks base their opinions on. Quite frankly, I believe he is 'leading' this country in the WRONG direction. He is the opposite extreme of Bush Jr. (Of course, I didn't like HIM either.) Is anything going to change? Nope. Are things going to get any better? Again, nope. The 'global economy' has neutered america. We are a dim shadow of what we once were. And political correctness has a fair bit to do with that. TheMastersSon
"and possibly the crux of the matter with the difficulties that the country has with directly dealing with the fact that we have a black president" I would never intentionally break any TOS, and my apologies if I've done so here. I took offense and was responding to the above statement.

The 'global economy' has neutered america. We are a dim shadow of what we once were. And political correctness has a fair bit to do with that.Every dime spent by our federal government comes from the House, so any president with no financial support is indeed all but powerless. However it's also true that our House is currently dysfunctional. The Republican Party is in the midst of a civil war between their libertarian/conservative and neocon/multinational factions, the infighting prevents any possibility of proper functioning (i.e. negotiation/compromise etc) of that body. The next two elections will reveal whether the American people wish to keep power split, until then imo it's ridiculous to blame anyone for simply being elected to office and carrying out his/her campaign platform. Speaking of campaign platforms, if that much thread drift is allowed, imo we could and should get into a discussion of how our current economic mess started. Hint: read any Ronald Reagan presidential campaign speech, about the ability of America's workers (capitalism) to compete with anyone else's (China's/Communist socialism), and review Nixon's "opening the gates to China" and final burying of our gold standard in 1971. Here's the bottom line imo: our annual trade deficit just with China now exceeds a trillion dollars. If anyone of any political persuasion wishes to claim this situation is sustainable, please explain how. In the meantime, something needs to be done before our current de facto bankruptcy becomes official. In fact I've found the quickest and easiest way to separate real Republicans from fake ones is to propose cutting off most or all trade with China, as our country did for 200 years prior to Nixon. Members of the latter group will start telling you why it's not possible, members of the first will explain it's always been and remains the only way to maintain fair trade, labor, environmental and other standards in Western countries. HeyYou
I agree on a number of your points there, but, I wouldn't restrict the 'dysfunctional' lable to JUST the republicans. It's Washington DC in general. With the current situation, neither side can do a darn thing. There is no compromise. The only thing we see coming out of washington is minor, and unimportant issues, to distract us from the REAL problems..... One of which, as I see it, is the Supreme court. They have pretty much handed government to the ultra rich. None of that is going to change though. To much money in maintaining the status quo. So, we will continue down the same path, until the inevitable collapse. At that point, if we survive it, things might change..... of course, life after the crash will be DRAMATICALLY different...... and not necessarily better. I am not political, but I am social and politics agitates society in good ways and bad so we have to deal with the political realities of the day. Political correctness has been around fore a lot longer than you, I or even America has been around. It simply is the inability to confront something that is need to be, because doing so might ruffle some feathers. Example of political correctness. We don't talk about uncle Ted. We just don't allow him to be alone with our small Children. He likes to take them to bed. This thing about the first black president is also about the Lefts protection of him as well as anything any rasist who may or may not have said elsewhere. ripple
I am just curious, why are you creating duplicate threads on basically the same topics? Because what you are saying here is basically the same 'arguments' from your 'will social progressivism become the new domestic terrorism?" post. Even some of the responses are almost regurgitations. I had confused the two threads until I checked the posting dates. Also, melodramatic much?
