Yankanator
So up until I recently decided to reinstall fallout 3 the game installed and ran great. Now I can't do anything because all that happens when I try to play is I get an error saying "no disc inserted please insert the original blah blah blah." I got the latest update and even tried running the game after the actual Fallout3.exe instead of the launcher and I still get the same thing. Ive been trying to find a solution to this now for a while.
bben46
Do other DVDs work?Is the disc scratched?
VictoriaG
I've had this problem on occasions the game stops responding, if you jump back to windows there's a little box up saying no disc inserted. I have two drives and tried switching the disc but it still happens, the only other game disc I have inserted is oblivion and there's no problems with that. I can only assume it's issue with the disc security and vista plus many mods running.
apaosha
I had something similar happen to me a while back. It had to do with Sonic DLA interfering with D:. Try Run>cmd and type "dla disable d:". EG: click Start at the bottom left of your screen, click Run..., then type cmd and hit enter. The command window will appear. Type dla disable d: and hit enter. This may not be your problem, however ...
Yankanator
The disc is in perfect condition, I've tried other (and considerably more haggard) DVDs that still work fine. I've already tried disabling the dla on my DVD drive. Oh and im running on XP, and the first time I installed and played the game and there were no problems whatsoever. Yankanator
I had reinstalled fallout 3 after having wiped my pc back to factory settings. This is literally a fresh install of the game. In fact the problem started before the game was even installed, I had to open the DVD in a folder and manually run the install program to get it installed. pkleiss
What happens if you just insert the DVD and let the autorun do its thing? Do you still get the "No disk..." crap? I also recently reformatted my HDD and had this problem until I let the game start itself once and determine my Video settings. After that I did not have to have the DVD in the drive at all to play. But I also use FOMM and downloaded/installed the latest GFWL client from Microsoft.
bben46
If you reformatted your hard drive and reinstalled the Operating system, it's possible you don't have the right driver for your DVD. Often, a computer maker will use a different device when the one they normally use is not available. But then on their 'restore' disk they have only a minimal or older driver. Check the actual manufacturer of the DVD player, and check their website for a updated driver.
Fonger
1 ) So up until I recently decided to reinstall fallout 3 the game installed and ran great. 2 ) when I try to play is I get an error saying "no disc inserted please insert the original blah blah blah." 3 ) even tried running the game after the actual Fallout3.exe instead of the launcher and I still get the same thing.1 tells us the disk is OK. 2 tells us its related to the securom check and/or disk drive 3 tells us the problem is coming directly from your operating system because the Fallout3.exe does NOT CHECK THE DISK - its a special function PROVIDED by BETHESDA for the comfort and sanity of its customers Run the game from Fallout3.exe - as installed on your system, not the exe on the disk.
