omgaturtle
Is it possible to convert an .omod file to an .esp file? The reason being I really want to play this race , but unfortunatley a few of the comments suggest that this mod is unfortunatley unoperable unless converted to an .esp. They say to just rename it an .esp, but obviously, that doesn't exactly work. Could anyone please help me out? :thanks:
Fonger
did the icon change when you renamed it? (operating system question) if it didn't you managed to rename it to MiniAssassin.esp.omod instead of MiniAssassin.esp various Operating system settings prevent/restrict this try renaming it to "MiniAssassin.esp" (yes use the quotes)

Other than that it's in no way unlike any other packed mod, even it's "enabling" is translated: unpack the files and folders and place them in their correct places. I mean, the files inside an omod are exactly the same esps, textures, meshes and so on. So you just need OBMM, select it and click "enable" Now, because it actually is a 7z file you can change the extension to 7z and it can be unpacked normally by 7zip (although OBMM has better means to unpack it). And NO, renaming it to ESP will not work, the loader is smart enough to not even let itself be fooled by the name. PS: I don't know the specific mod you meant, the comments may refers to a broken created omod or a bad script and so you'd need to unpack it and put the files "in their correct places, respecting the folders structure" by hand. Stuck on Vista, and file naming is strict. :wallbash:
nosisab
Please elaborate so we can help. What kind of messages? it's only with that omod? maybe it's only warnings it will overlap or overwrite something (what sometimes is expected). Have you already changed something that turns the file unrecognizable as it is? Actually you have enough clues to go ahead. If that omod is broken for some reason, you could try unpack it and install the desired files by hand. If you don't know how to do it, so you should seek for tutorials about installing mods before anything else.
omgaturtle
Whenever I use Winrar or 7zip, I get this message::excl: Cannot open file to 'C:\Users\Dad\Downloads\MiniAssassin.omod' as an archive Whenever I use Obmm, I get this message::excl: Error loading 'C:\Users\Dad\Downloads\MiniAssassin.omod' Cannot find central directory
Fonger
yes the problem is all about changing the extension on an existing file Looks like the best solution to your problem is to convince the uploader of the file to re-upload the file in the correct extension. SavageArtistry
I extract the contents of omods all the time because I usually combine them with mods I already have. The way I do it is this. 1. Make a new, empty Data folder in my Oblivion directory, while renaming the real one with game content and mods to something like xData.2. Copy the Shaders folder from the original Data directory to this new empty Data directory because without it OBMM will freak out.3. Drop the file to be extracted into the "mods" folder in my OBMM install. (obmm\mods)4. Install as usual.5. Go into the fake Data folder, grab all the files that have been added, (leaving the omod) and move them to a new folder on my desktop. This will be the .esp file, the models and textures usually.6. Use OBMM to uninstall the omod.7. Restore my original Data folder. The set of files in the folder on the desktop is the 'unzipped' omod. Whenever I use Obmm, I get this message:Error loading 'C:\Users\Dad\Downloads\MiniAssassin.omod'Cannot find central directory This message probably happens because you did not drop the file into the folder "obmm\mods" before trying to install. I'll give it a shot!Actually OBMM install mods from any location, it seems the file itself is corrupted or the omod is wrongly built. In that case it should be avoided install tryings and report made to authors asking for corrections and re-upload. PS: First try download it again, since may be your specific copy that is corrupted or became after the handlings...
