Dark0ne
Since Battlefield 1942's release in 2002 every. single. game. EA/DICE have cranked out for the Battlefield series has been riddled with the exact same problem: a godawful, terrible server browser. I don't quite understand it. How do EA/DICE manage to take a look at their previous games and not improve on the one area that actually needs improving in the Battlefield series? Here's a nice condensed list of some of the things I can think of: 60 seconds to get a list of servers. If you want to filter the results you've got to wait all over again. How hard is it to populate the list on-the-fly so you can browse servers while more are downloaded (ala Steam)Terrible filter options that don't accommodate half of the options you'd like (no filtering by region/ping, no filtering by killcam/team killing, no filtering by hardcore mode...)Only a 50% chance of you being able to join the server you want toOnly a 50% chance of the server info actually displaying properly and telling you the correct informationRandom disconnects when you do manage to join a serverOnly a 25% chance of adding a server you've selected to your favouritesOnly a 50% chance the stats will load properly so you can see how far you have to go until your next unlock(s) It's so frustrating to enjoy playing the actual game so much once you're actually in the server you want to be in but have to jump through pathetic hoops in order to reach the actual game itself. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has this issue with the Battlefield series..?
Olurum
Yea, I always joked to my friends that I'll be going to play whack-a-mole when heading into BF2. It was just the most annoying thing ever. They managed to make a bad browser worse with one of their many 'patches' (which usually just added more bugs). The server would 'jump' to a random position in the list after you clicked on it.... You'd then have to find it again and double click as fast as you could and hope that it didn't jump away again. :/ Nevertheless, BF2 was still fun, despite it's many bugs and what-not. I occasionally feel like installing it again, but then I remember that I would have to download a 1GB+ patch that takes an unusually long time to install (at least for me). EDIT: Oh yea, removing and adding favourites was always a mystery to me.
phoneyLogic
The BF2 Server Browser isn't that bad. You have several options to sort the list by keywords (just enter them into the rows above), pings (just klick arrow up/down at the Ping pannel), you can connect to a special IP if you want, you can add the server on which you are playing currently to your favourities, ... etc ... not that bad, but awfull to handleIt is indeed a pita to find a server if you have maybe 2000 available, This could take a while ^^ But what happened to the BC Browser?I've heard sth that they planned to improve it :unsure:unfortunately my rig is too weak to test it :(
